August 2017
The mission of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce is to facilitate the growth of Aurora area businesses, promote tourism, and invest in programs
that enhance and enrich the community.
Drive It Yourself Tour - FUN!
Saturday, July 22nd saw tour-goers visiting participating businesses in Aurora for games, prizes and giveaways. A grand finale was held at Aurora Farms Premium Outlets. Thank you to Aurora Farms Premium Outlets and Aurora Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation for sponsoring this popular event. We were proud and pleased to welcome people right to your doors, and believe us: they loved it! Participants told us again and again how much they either enjoy the opportunity to 'peek in' and check out what Aurora businesses have to offer. Whether they were new residents eager to learn about their new hometown, visitors from surrounding areas (including as far as Columbus, or long-time residents looking to learn more about businesses they have not yet otherwise discovered, everyone loved the DIY Tour.
Congratulations to our participating businesses for representing our business community so well!

The attorneys of Gertsburg Law have a comprehensive understanding of the countless legal issues facing businesses on a daily basis. In order to share our knowledge with the community, we publish weekly blog articles that explain and elaborate on issues relevant to business owners.
Here are some of the articles available on our blog
this month:
Save the Date: Statues of Limitations for Common Business Matters in Ohio
When you own and operate a business in Ohio, you need to ensure not only your clients but also your employees, your partners and (if applicable) your shareholders that your operations are above-board at all times. There may come a time, however, when one of those entities wishes to bring a claim or lawsuit against another and if that happens, there are myriad laws and regulations each party must follow in order to reach a successful resolution.
Travis Kalanick's Fall from Grace is a Warning to Business Owners Everywhere
In February 2017, a woman named Susan Fowler published a blog post about her time at Uber, the ride sharing company. Her story was about sexual harassment, and to say it made waves is an understatement: it started a veritable online tsunami. This blog discusses the necessary steps to ensure that we are creating a community and a brand that works for everyone.
What Will Takata's Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Filing Mean for your Dealership?
Unless you are a firm believer in ignoring industry news, you know Takata. Their exploding airbags have been in the news for the last decade (and inside knowledge of the flaw has been known for almost twice that time), and two monumental settlements were made this year: Takata agreed to pay $1 billion in fines and compensation, and four major auto manufacturers put aside a little more than half that for customers who suffered economic losses as a result of the defect. But on Sunday, June 25, 2017, Takata filed for bankruptcy in both Japan and the U.S.
