Walnut Creek Chamber Board Chair Mary S. Brooks, CFP®, founder of Integrē Wealth Management of Raymond James (Walnut Creek, CA) and a Board member and volunteer leader for California's White Pony Express, has been selected as a finalist by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation for a 2017 Invest in Others Award, a program that recognizes the charitable work of financial advisors and financial services firms in communities across the country and around the world. Brooks is one of three finalists for 2017 Volunteer of the Year, an award presented to that advisor who has made a significant impact on a nonprofit as a volunteer by creating, implementing, or managing a program that has moved the organization forward and made a lasting impact on his or her community.

Construction starts on new BART garage
Work is under way on the construction of a 900-space parking garage at the Walnut Creek BART station. The new garage is the first phase of the Walnut Creek Transit Village, which will include 596 apartments -- all with their own underground parking. Throughout the entire process, the developer is committed to ensuring no loss of BART parking.
