 Budget Engagement Exceeds Goals!

The City's Budget Outreach Project: Your City, Your Budget, surpassed all engagement goals with more than 1,000 conversations at local events, nearly 5,000 visits to our budget engagement web page and more than 600 online surveys completed! Visit the budget page on the City's website for ongoing information as we consolidate input and move through the budget planning process. Thank you once again for sharing your budget priorities!
 Safety Fair: Are You Prepared?

Join The City of Thousand Oaks and Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin when we co-host the Be Prepared Safety Fair on Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Civic Arts Plaza.  This free, family-friendly event will feature booths covering topics from earthquake and floods, to fire safety and bike helmets. Local law enforcement and Ventura County Fire will be there to showcase their vehicles, K9s, Kid Prints and more.
 City, Cyclists Celebrate National Bike Month

The community kicked off National Bike Month locally with the Bike N' Ride event on May 15, 2017. Ventura County firefighters, dignitaries, and avid cyclists joined together on a family-friendly, 10-mile recreational ride. The event ended with the installation of Ventura County's first public bicycle repair stand at Fire Station 33 in Thousand Oaks. The Ventura County Fire Department is currently installing 16 additional bike repair stands at fire stations and public sites across the County.
 Recognizing the Value of Public Works Staff

More than 800 children, parents, teachers and community members joined the City for our recent Public Works Week Open House. Participants got a behind-the-scenes look at some of the important work performed daily by Public Works employees. We thank the men and women of the Thousand Oaks Public Works Department for their hard work and dedication. Special shout out to our 2017 Public Works Employee of the Year, Administrative Secretary Ester Marcelino. Ester has gone above and beyond providing outstanding customer service to residents and support to staff. 
COSCA Celebrates 40 Years!

Moving into its 40th year of preserving, protecting and managing local open space, Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA) is hosting a variety of activities to connect residents to our 150 miles of local trails. You can participate in geocaching, guided trail appreciation walks, even help with trail maintenance. Download the 40th Anniversary Calendar here. COSCA is a joint partnership between the City and the Recreation and Parks District. It currently oversees more than 15,000 acres of open space.
Is There Money Waiting for You?

The City has completed its review of closed utility account balances and wants to get credit balances to their rightful owners. If you believe an account listed may belong to you, please complete and return the claim form linked below. Make sure to include the required documentation supporting your claim of ownership. Deadline for submissions is Monday, June 19, 2017.
Other Local Happenings

Bring Your Retired Flags to City Hall
Residents can bring their worn, torn and tattered American flags to the Main Lobby of City Hall between now and June 13. Veterans of Foreign Wars will collect the retired flags and dispose of them at their annual Wreath Laying and Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day, June 14, 2017.

Singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot will perform a the Civic Arts Plaza Kavli Theatre on Thursday, June 15, 2017. Check out all the upcoming CAP performances here.

Council to Follow Up on Marijuana Input
Thank you to those who provided input on marijuana policy by participating in our recent surveys. We will be sharing a summary of community opinions on marijuana policy at our June 27, 2017, Council Meeting, 6 p.m. in the Scherr Forum Theater. This meeting is public and will be broadcast live on TOTV .
