Hope you are having a great summer! It's hard to believe that August is already here. Thank you for taking a few minutes to catch up on the activities of   YOUR  Community Foundation. 
High School Youth Event

High school youth with a desire to make a positive impact in DeKalb County should consider attending the YEP Meet & Greet on Sunday, August 27 from 4-5 p.m. Returning members are highly encouraged to make an appearance and bring a friend.

Restocking the Future of Shabbona Lake State Park

With over 475,000 visitors to Shabbona Lake each year, the overall health of the park and the lake are vital to the surrounding community. When the rearing pond on the north end of the lake ceased operations in 2014, a huge challenge arose. Together, through donor generosity to the Community Foundation, we were able to help! Thank you Community Impact Fund donors for making grants like these possible!

$136,350 in Grants Support Music and Music Education

This spring, $136,350 in Wurlitzer Foundation Grants were awarded to 18 nonprofits and community organizations across the Midwest region of the United States. All grants support music and music education. Thank you Wurlitzer Foundation Fund donors for making grants like these possible!

Renaissance Scholarship Recipient Announced

Congratulations to Brittnie Peters, recipient of the 2017 Renaissance Scholarship. Brittnie will receive a $1,000 scholarship award as she returns to school pursuing a degree in nursing at J'Renee College located in Elgin, IL. Thank you to Yvonnne Johnson for providing opportunity with this unique fund!

Congratulations to the 2017 Spinoso Masters Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to Carlie Hayes, Rachael Pazsotta, Kelsey Rodgers, and Anna Stiker, recipients of the 2017 Spinoso Masters Scholarship. These four individuals will receive a total of $30,000 to use toward Masters level education.Thank you to John and Vivian Spinoso for their love of education and desire for others to pursue higher learning! 

Application Process Begins for Fall Community Foundation Grants

Online applications are open once again for fall Community Needs Grants and Wurlitzer Foundation Grants. Nonprofits and community organizations are encouraged to apply. Applications are due before midnight on September 1.

Please join us as we give a big, heartfelt THANK YOU to Sarah Trygstad, DCNP Assistant. Sarah has been on staff with the DeKalb County Community Foundation for a little over a year now. She recently accepted a new position in Minnesota and will be moving on to the next exciting chapter in her life.
