Sunday Service THIS WEEK at 10:00am at Blue Springs

St. Nicholas' mission is to be an example of Christ's love
for all people.
Our vision is to be the center of nourishment in mind, body, and spirit
for all people in our community.
Summer Office Hours

Monday thru Thursday- 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

From Fr. Jeff,

Who can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord? We do a good job of trying to separate ourselves from that love. We do a good job of trying to separate others from that love. We forget that it is not our job to divide the weeds from the wheat or the sheep from the goats or the good fish from the bad fish. That's the job of the angels. Instead, we are called to be ONE. The glue that binds us together isn't our opinions or behaviors. Instead, it is the love of God in Christ Jesus, which is as permanent as a scar, as long-lasting as time, as endless as the universe. Nothing we do can change that. So wherever you are today, rest in the knowledge that God loves you endlessly and God loves the next person with whom you come in contact with that same endless love. Take a moment to share that good news with them.

*If you would like to receive messages like this in text form from Fr. Jeff every week, text "Add me" to  706-761-0115

Peace, Jeff+

The picnic will be a "true potluck" in that Parish Life won't be supplying the usual fried chicken.

So for anyone who is wondering what to bring, feel free to consider chicken or any protein that you enjoy.
Let's show off our picnic favorites!"

Invitation to Annual Jonathan Daniels Pilgrimage,
Saturday, August 12th

"Jonathan Myrick Daniels was a young seminarian in March 1965, when he responded to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."s call to come to Selma to help black citizens register to vote. A shotgun-wielding unemployed construction worker and special duty deputy killed him on August 20, 1965 in Hayneville, AL when Jonathan and his companions were released from jail and they attempted to enter the Cash Store to buy something cold to drink. He took a blast meant for 16-year old Ruby Sales. The Episcopal Church designated Jonathan Daniels a martyr in 1991, observing his feast day on August 14th. The Pilgrimage begins at 11 am in the Hayneville Courthouse Square." - from the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama website

Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministry (CVEM) invites you to join pilgrims from the region to travel together on Saturday, August 12th to Hayneville, AL. to walk in the steps of Jon Daniels and his friends and to hear this story, one of so many, of courage and sacrifice in the movement toward civil rights for each and every American.

There are two options following the pilgrimage and lunch that our group can decide on:
  1. Join other pilgrims in Hayneville to "deliberate" race relations and the future of our communities in a forum moderated by Dr. Mark Wilson of Auburn University. Participants will share stories and weigh the pros and cons of various approaches to the issue using a non-partisan guide published by National Issues Forums (NIF). There is no cost to participate but space is limited. Click here for more info.
  2. Tour the Lowndes County Interpretive Center, dedicated to telling the story of the Selma to Montgomery March Trail. Click here for more info.

Our plan is to leave Columbus at  9:30 am EDT. The pilgrimage begins at  11 am CDT.
We will head home mid-afternoon and plan to be back in Columbus by  6 pm EDT. Transportation options depend on the number of people signed up to attend.

Anyone interested in participating please email Martha Robert at  Martha@cvemjubilee.org  or call 706-327-0400. Let Martha know if you are willing to drive your vehicle and which afternoon activity you're most interested in.

Aside from regular services, St. Nicholas is out and about visiting parish members and community.    Fr. Jeff and LEV's visit hospital or home-bound parish members, family members, Bright Way Personal Care Home, and Harris County Jail.   Other places would love to have visits from us. There is a big need to bring God's love to the community through Eucharist and pastoral care. LEV's are trained to give Eucharist and provide pastoral care.

We are in need of additional Lay Eucharistic Visitors for this ministry. Several members are visiting the prison and Bright Way, however, only two LEV's are active at the moment.

If you are interested in being trained as an LEV or are able to become active again as an LEV, please contact Fr Jeff ( Fatherjeff@stnicholashamilton.com) or the church office ( contact@stnicholashamilton.org

Lectionary Readings

If you would like to see the readings for Sunday,

A Journey with Matthew

The Gospel of Matthew presents the story of Christ's life and teachings in a well-organized format, almost in the five-part structure of a Greek drama. Each week we take seven small sections of the Gospel.  Each section has professional commentary plus questions that lead us into the real impact of Christ's life on our lives in the 21st century.
Additional back-stories of the history and sociology of Christ's time and place will be explored. All are welcome.  Invite a friend.

Instant Church Directory
Mobile App Installation Instructions

Church members can view the St. Nicholas Church Directory from their iPhone, iPad, Android or Kindle Fire by downloading the free Instant Church Directory Members App.

You may search for "Instant Church Directory" in the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Amazon Appstore, or use this link:

After installation, open the Instant Church Directory icon (it looks like a church).  It will ask for your email address.  If your email address is in our church directory, the program will generate a password for you and email it to you.

This worked great for most, but if you have any problems make sure you first check to see that your email address is in the church directory.

Please look for these cards in the narthex or in the pews and place them in the alms basin if you give electronically.

Father Jeff will bless them at each service along with the other offerings.

GoFundMe Campaign for Zion Church

For our next phase of fundraising for historic  Zion Episcopal Church   in Talbotton, Georgia , we have set up a  GoFundMe  campaign.

There is much to be done to help this amazing bit of Georgia history.
Please share this and encourage people to be generous.

For over 160 years, Zion Episcopal Church has watched over the village of Talbotton, GA. There are not many 160-year-old structures still standing in our country.
