Police Resources Impacted by Wildfire Situation
UBCM has received correspondence from the Province regarding the July 7, 2017 declaration of a provincial state of emergency under the Emergency Program Act, and impacts to local police resources resulting from the wildfire situation. As part of the Province's efforts to manage this situation, resources within the Provincial Police Service and extra-provincial RCMP resources have been deployed or are under deployment authorization. Abandoned Boats Funding Information Session
On July 6, nineteen local governments attended a Transport Canada information session on the new Federal Abandoned Boats Funding Program. Rail Safety Improvement Program Funding
Last year, the Minister of Transport Canada announced the Rail Safety Improvement Program (RSIP), an investment of more than $55 million over a period of 3 years to improve rail safety across Canada. The program provides federal funding, in the form of grants and contributions, to improve rail safety and reduce injuries and fatalities related to rail transportation. Read more
