FIP Research, the Bria Fund and Winn Feline Foundation
The first research grant funded by Winn in 1971 was for $1000 to the University of California-Davis College of Veterinary Medicine and related to feline infectious peritonitis (FIP).
Through today, Winn donors have supported research related to feline coronavirus (FECV) and feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV) at many institutions in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Grants aimed at treating and solving this disease total approximately $675,000.
The Bria Fund for FIP research was founded by Susan Gingrich and Jim Shurskis in partnership with Winn Feline Foundation in 2005. In the 12 years since the Bria Fund began collecting donations from concerned cat lovers worldwide, 21 FIP-related projects worth $382,384 (part of the $675,000 total) have been sponsored directly by the fund.
The Bria Fund's goal is to raise funds toward finding a cure for FIP.
