Grace: It's Our Way of Life
As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly; Study the scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today; Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of  Christ. Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome because we are only here by Grace.
Where have you welcomed,  worshiped, studied or served?

How does your garden grow?
Grace Food Pantry gets fresh veggies from Schubert's Farm
by Donna Olendorf, Director of Children & Youth Formation
There was a time, not so very long ago, when gardens were as common as smart phones are today, and almost everyone grew their own vegetables. Those days are gone, even here in Traverse City where many people are still farmers.  For most of us, visiting the Sara Hardy Farmer's Market or buying organic food is as close to farming as we get.

And that suits us, because buying local produce is healthy, fresh, and easy, especially at this time of year. But, for the homeless and the working poor click here to read more...

Music at 5 and 10

The liturgical music we are using for the Hymn of Praise, Holy, Holy Holy, and the Fraction Anthem is all on the yellow card that has been placed either in the hymnal rack or in a nearby hymnal.  Hopefully this will be one less piece of paper for you to juggle in your bulletin! When you are finished singing them today, just place the card back where you found it for someone to use next week.

Where have all the ushers gone?
Perhaps you could be part of the solution!  We need volunteers for all worship participant roles - ushers, welcomers, lectors, intercessors (you only have to read the prayers, not write them!), and Lay Eucharistic Ministers.  Please contact Kathy Will if you are interested in serving during worship.  For those already serving, sign-ups for August and September are in the parish hall, and THANK YOU!

Want to know more about the Rector Search process?  Our plumbing problems?  Our finances?
Then plan to attend the Parish Quarterly Meeting on July 23 after the 10am service
In addition to providing a financial update, we will also have updates on the rector search process, the plumbing situation in the parish hall, the restructuring of the deanery, and the 150th celebration.  All are welcome to attend .

One time need for Friday Lunch July 28
We have a need for a Friday Lunch Team Leader on Friday, July 28, due to our current 4th Friday team leader being out of town.  The team is in place, we just need someone to plan a menu, shop and direct the team.  Only this one time!  Is this something you could do?  Maybe you and your kids would enjoy doing this one time for fun?  Perhaps you have time that day, but can't make a long term commitment?  Maybe you are a foodie and would like to share your love of food with our neighbors in need of a delicious meal?  Please contact the office if you can help, and THANK YOU!

Many dates remain available for Altar Flowers and the Sanctuary Lamp.  Perhaps you would like to remember a loved one or commemorate a special date in your family's history.  The sign-up board is in the parish hall.  We ask for a donation of $45 for flower arrangements, and $7 for the Sanctuary Lamp.  Thank you!

Parking challenges during the summer and beyond
Parking is a frequent topic around our campus these days.  Construction has begun in the lot behind  our parking lot, and in addition to our 'regular' parking needs (both during the week and on weekends), summer festivals create a parking crunch.  What to do?  Grace parishioners are ALWAYS welcome to park in our lot, regardless of time of day.  However, we don't have a good way  to recognize your car.  To avoid being towed, please purchase a Grace window cling from the office, cost $4, and display on the driver's side of your car (either front, side or rear window, as long as it is visible and on the driver's side).  We cannot guarantee that a spot will be available when you want it, but if spots are available, you are welcome to park in the Grace Church lot.  For worship services, we ask that able-bodied persons park elsewhere, to allow those who need close access to the building to park in our lot.  Remember that the parking deck, metered, and on-street parking are also available, depending on the time of day.  Some days are better than others for parking!

What's Happening at Grace?

What's Happening in our Diocese?

Turn in your Oleson's receipts to benefit the Grace Food Pantry!

Oleson's Community Share Program

Here's how it works:
  1. You shop at Oleson's for groceries (liquor sales do not qualify for points)
  2. Turn in your receipts to the church.  Look for the envelope on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, and place your receipts inside it.
  3. We submit receipts back to Oleson's
  4. We are granted cash rewards for the food pantry ($1 spent on groceries = 1 cent in Community Share points)

For every $5000 in receipts we submit, we receive $50 in cash for our food pantry.  Every little bit helps!

Thank you for participating!
