8th BGANZ Congress: Adelaide 2017

ONLY 8 DAYS until the end of the 2016/2017 financial year! Spend those last dollars this financial year on you and or your teams registrations for the BGANZ Congress in Adelaide! Money well spent from the professional development budget! 

The 8th BGANZ Congress will be held at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide, SA, from 22-25 October 2017. 

The Program for the BGANZ 8th Congress will be available online in the coming weeks before early bird registrations close at 5pm AEST on 31 July 2017 . Remember to register before early bird closed to receive the best registration price.

This year, the theme is 'Preservation: Exploring and Adapting', with international speakers featuring on our world-class program.  

The Congress is open to BGANZ members and non-members alike.

8th BGANZ Congress: 
LAST CHANCE to Apply for Grants!

In 2017 BGANZ will offer a number of Grants to assist members to attend the 8th BGANZ Congress at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, 22-25 October 2017.

BGANZ Membership Fees enable BGANZ to offer Grants to assist members to attend the BGANZ Biennial Congress.

In 2013, BGANZ supported 16 members
to attend the 6th BGANZ Congress, held in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Another 16 received grants to attend the 7th BGANZ Congress in Wollongong, NSW, during 2015.

BGAN Z Scholarship and Awards now available

  BGANZ are delighted to announce three Awards for BGANZ Members commencing in 2017. BGANZ Professional Scholarship Award and BGANZ Young Member Award will commence October 2017.
 
1. BGANZ Professional Scholarship Award. (Value $2,000)
 
Objective:
To contribute to the ongoing training and development of BGANZ Members through overseas research or work experience with like organisations which will bring a benefit to individual and BGANZ.

The BGANZ Scholarship could be used for a range of professional development opportunities, including but not restricted to travel to study, travel to botanic gardens or associated horticultural institutions. It could be to undertake field trips and collection trips, or even to attend a relevant conference or seminar or to attend a specific training course. These opportunities may be in any country in the world, including Australia and New Zealand.


Closing Date for Applications: 31 July 2017. Successful Candidate to be announced at BGANZ 2017 Congress, Adelaide, October 2017. 

2.  BGANZ Young Member Award. (Value $500)
 
Objective:
To foster and support the ongoing training and development of younger BGANZ Members through the provision of a dedicated scholarship/award
 
Scholarship Details:
One BGANZ Young Membership Scholarship to the value of up to $500 will be offered every second year, commencing October 2017. The scholarship is open to all BGANZ Members under 30 and the successful applicant will be announced at BGANZ biennial Congress.

International Protea Working Group:
Final Call for Submission of Abstracts

This is the FINAL CALL for submission of abstracts to the upcoming 13th International protea Research Symposium.

The Protea Symposium is being held in association with the 2nd International Symposium on Ornamentals and 7th International Conference on Managing Quality in Chains (MQUIC2017) in Stellenbosch, South Africa from 4-7 September, 2017

The symposia will provide a platform to promote communication and collaboration by sharing knowledge and expertise between international scientists, students, consultants, extension agents, growers and stakeholders, to the benefit of the international floriculture industry. 

You are invited (along with any other interested researchers in your environment) to submit an abstract, and/or to attend the symposium.  Authors and attendees will have the unique opportunity to learn from each other's research and ornamental crops and contribute to the rich and diverse scientific program. 

This chance will not be available again until the next Protea Symposium in 2020. 

If you wish to contribute to the symposium by submitting an abstract please contact Emily Rigby (Chair, ISHS International Protea Working Group; Conference Co-Convenor) for a late submission code.
