For years, researchers have recognized the apparent link between OSA and metabolic dysfunction. OSA has been independently associated with a variety of metabolic disorders. Although trials of continuous positive airway pressure to treat OSA have led to conflicting results regarding the causal role of OSA in these adverse metabolic outcomes, experimental data from animals and humans suggest that sympathetic overactivation, oxidative stress, and inflammation in OSA may all contribute to the development of metabolic dysfunction.
Could the integrated stress response (ISR) account for some of the aspects of dysregulated glucose handling observed in OSA?

You are invited:  Chicago SFOT Lecture
The New Frontier in Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Therapy Course

sfot logo Join Drs Brian Vence, George Mandelaris and Rick Roblee in Chicago for a two-day course to discuss the biology and benefits of implementing SFOT in advanced interdisciplinary therapy from a surgical, orthodontic and restorative perspective.
Specialists are encouraged to bring their interdisciplinary team to this course.

When:  Friday, April 13 to Saturday, April 14, 2018
Where: Medinah Country Club, Medinah, IL

Patients that want more ideal facial esthetics and stomatognathic function, may choose to have the interdisciplinary team utilize SFOT to alter the dentoalveolar bone and optimally position the roots of the teeth within the face. Space may be appropriated to enable the restorative dentist to create natural tooth size and morphology in the worn, eroded or otherwise altered dentition. Surgical, orthodontic and restorative perspectives will be presented to challenge the team to move beyond traditional interdisciplinary therapies into a new frontier for enhanced outcomes.
