Most of us who live in this community believe there's no better place to live, to work, to raise a family, to grow old. We believe that because, for most of us, it's true. But, for some of us, too many of us, often that "no better place" has become more dream than reality. These are the folks we see every day.
Having said that, we take heart from all the wise and wonderful and generous ways people like you step up to that complex ecology of relatedness we experience as community to shatter the illusion of what separates us.
Each day you are giving shape to dreams of a safe place to call home, a living wage and an opportunity to earn it, a strong start in life and educational opportunity for all of our children, a welcoming new homeland for immigrants, advocacy for and access to health care, a place to grow old with dignity, and the healing balm of simple human friendship for all who call our community home.
This summer we and the Wayzata and Orono School Districts are focused on mobilizing community heart and will and resources to close cradle-to-career educational opportunity and achievement gaps of kids of our community. Please join us and bring your friends and neighbors to the Aug. 23 Great Expectations Breakfast at Wayzata Community Church, 125 Wayzata Blvd East, 7:30 - 9 a.m., to become informed, engaged and invested in the future of our kids.
