Wild juvenile salmon swim past an Atlantic salmon net pen in British Columbia. By Alexandra Morton.

Thank you so much for the important role you played in passing  EHB2957 - a bill that will phase out the farming of non-native Atlantic salmon in open water net pens. You made your voice heard and it made a difference! Now we need your help one last time.

Since last week, the bill has been waiting on Governor Inslee's desk to be signed into law. At a press conference last month the governor called non-native Atlantic salmon net pens an "intolerable risk" to our wild salmon and endorsed phase out legislation.

Yet, while many other bills have been signed into law, EHB2957 has yet to be scheduled for a bill signing.  We have heard that Cooke Aquaculture is investing heavily in lobbying efforts to undermine the legislature's decision and is trying to convince Governor Inslee to veto the bill.

Please call the Governor's office at 360-902-4111 or click here to send an email and thank him for his support and urge him to sign EHB2957 to phase out non-native net pens.

While we are hopeful that Governor Inslee will sign the bill, we know we can't let up the pressure when we are so close the finish line.

The public has spoken, the legislature has spoken, and now it's time for the governor to act on his promise to defend the Salish Sea from harm.

Thank you for your voice and support!
