Issue 112 - July 2017

Welcome to the July edition of PROFINEWS UK, bringing you the latest news of upcoming PROFIBUS, PROFINET, IO-Link and associated activities in the UK.

PROFIBUS, PROFINET and IO-Link Autumn Training Days

More about our two Autumn training events ...

  • Glyndwr University, Wales, 26 September
  • Cambridge, 11 October
Process Training Seminar
These free-to-attend seminars provide an excellent introduction to the use of digital communications technologies in automated manufacturing and process industry applications, with particular attention to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0, addressing key issues such as safety and cyber security.

The Cambridge event is sponsored by  a European Interreg Project named "Industry 4.0 via Networked Control Applications and Sustainable Engineering" - aka INCASE, while t he Glyndwr event is sponsored by the University and will feature a presentation from cyber security expert  Dr Cunningham.

Supported by  practical demonstrations and  table-top product displays and , these seminars will be of great value to Designers, Production/System Engineers, Instrument Technicians/Engineers and C&I Engineers involved in the design, operation and maintenance of modern automated factories and process plant.

An introduction to PROFIBUS and PROFINET
Catching the Process Fieldbus

" This book is an excellent introduction to the world of PROFIBUS and PROFINET" says Karsten Schneider, Chairman PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI). " PROFIBUS and PROFINET are the leading communication standards in industrial automation. The variety of applications continues to grow every day in all industries. Therefore it is essential to build up knowledge with this technologies. The authors have managed to pack their vast knowledge and profound experience in an easy-to-understand manner."

CERTIFIED PROFIBUS AND PROFINET TRAINING COURSES
Certified Products & People Logo
PI UK supports certified training run by our two PITCs, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and Verwer Training & Consultancy Ltd (VTC). Both organisations are authorised by PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) to deliver PI's certified courses leading to internationally-recognised accreditation as Certified PROFIBUS or PROFINET Engineers or Installers.

PROFIBUS logo
Certified PROFIBUS Installer
An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFIBUS networks including DP, PA and optical fibre technology. Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

Next courses:
Aug 1, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
Sep 18, Location: Manchester, Provider: VTC
PROFIBUS logo
PROFIBUS Commissioning & Maintenance Course
A one-day course designed as an add-on to the Certified PROFIBUS Installer Course, covering the practical techniques of faultfinding on "operational" PROFIBUS networks. Techniques taught on the course include the use of a modern PROFIBUS analyser, Class 1 and Class 2 master functions (engineering tool) to diagnose network faults, device faults and I/O problems. Students also learn how to diagnose and accurately locate cable, connection and device faults.

Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course
This is an in-depth course covering PROFIBUS DP and PA network operation, design, commissioning and live fault-finding. The course covers basic cyclic data exchange (so-called DP-V0) and DP-V1 extensions that are used in PA devices and more complex DP devices. Most of the course is involved with understanding and interpreting the various telegrams that pass between devices. It is a world-wide recognised training program, standardised by PROFIBUS International.  The Certified PROFIBUS Installer and the Commissioning & Maintenance courses are essential pre-requisites to attending this course.
