FOOD STILL AVAILABLE: Free Food Box Distribution in the Glades! - The Glades Initiative
The Glades Initiative in collaboration with Living Hungry, Farms Share, the South Florida Hunger Coalition, and 100's of charitable organizations to assist in the implementation of the War on Hunger Initiative. War on Hunger, spearheaded by Living Hungry, is about ensuring that no homeless kid or families in need go hungry by distributing free snack boxes and bags of food to all those in need.
The Glades Initiative, through our Glades Area Food Bank, has partnered to have a truckloads of food boxes delivered to The Glades Area for those organizations with no transportation to pick up in West Palm Beach. The boxes contain items such as cereal, Chef Boyardee, trail mix, granola bars, Pop Tarts, pudding, and shelf stable milk. The goal is to feed as many people as possible, and feed again, until every food box goes out before the food's expiration date which is July of 2018.
Agencies are required to get a minimum of 50-250 food boxes; if your agency would like to schedule a pick up contact Sandy with time and date, and number of boxes. Hurry, limited food available.

AETNA: 2018 Cultivating Healthy Communities Grant Program
We are pleased to announce the launch of our 2018 Cultivating Healthy Communities Grant Program. We recognize that health is local: it begins in our homes, schools, jobs, and neighborhoods. By creating more chances to make healthy choices in these places, we can empower whole communities to lead healthier lives.
Over the past three years, we have expanded our programming beyond the original focus on physical activity, urban farms, and local food. We're still committed to these areas, and they'll be considered under this RFP. But our program as a whole aims to have broader impact and reach more spaces in the community. That's why we are inviting projects that address issues in the following domains: Built Environment, Community Safety, Environmental Exposures, Healthy Behaviors, and Social/Economic Factors. We are especially interested in projects that advance resident- or youth-led initiatives, and projects that seek to influence and strengthen local policies that impact residents' health.
DEADLINE Stage 1 Applications, must be received by:

Nonprofit Financial Management Network - Truth About Theft in Nonprofits
This workshop will address the role of boards and staff in preventing fraud and theft, as well as examining some of the ways that nonprofit insiders can steal, misappropriate or divert organization funds, along with some of the tools which can discover and deter such actions.
One of the most difficult and disheartening situations a nonprofit organization will face is when they have discovered that the organization's funds have been embezzled, most commonly, by an insider. The single greatest asset of any nonprofit organization is its reputation in the community. When theft or misappropriation of assets is reported or even suggested, plummeting public confidence spreads beyond the affected organization and endangers future support for other nonprofits as well.
