Teacher Profile: Ms. Vitale
This is Miss Vitale's second year as a teacher in Arcadia's Math Department.  She teaches Geo Trig H and Algebra I.  Arcadia is lucky to have such an energetic, dedicated and passionate teacher in the math department!  In the spring of her first year, she even volunteered to be part of the team that accompanied the AB and BC Calc students to Prescott for a weekend of Calc Camp.  It was three days of tutoring almost 200 students in preparation for the annual AP Calc exam.  She plans to go again this year!  Her education background includes a BA in Secondary Education, Mathematics from ASU. Read More >>

College Fair & Spirit Day
It is never too early to start thinking about college! Arcadia is hosting a College Fair just for our students and their families! Admission reps from over 17 colleges coming. Students can attend with their 5th or 6th period  class or after school. All grade levels are welcome and encouraged to attend! All students attending will be entered in a raffle for some college themed prizes. Please see the  College and Career website or  Naviance for a list of participating schools.
Arcadia BLOWS Tissue Drive

Thank you for the great donations so far! Let's keep it going to make it all the way through the school year.  The month of February we encourage you to purchase tissues and drop them off in the front office to be distributed to our classrooms.  Bring a bundle or bring just one box, all tissues are needed.  Keep Arcadia germ free!!  TIP: Costco has tissue on sale!

Thank you for all the pictures many of you have sent in! So far, we have 100 of our seniors represented in the video that will be playing during Project Grad!  We would love for all of our seniors to be in the video, so if you have not emailed your photos yet, please do!   Email to  LindaLouSchlenker@mac.com

What we are looking for:
1. High quality, size not reduced or cropped
2. Group photos, photos with more than one or two students in them: clubs, teams, extracurricular activities, parties, etc
3. Every student in the photo must be identified.
4. Every student in the photo must be a senior.
5. Please do not email more than two at a time.

Mr. Martens will be taking the AHS Travel Club on its 9th educational trip this summer to Vietnam, Cambodia, & Thailand. Travelers must be an Arcadia student at the time of the trip and have a passport. The Youth Salute recognizes juniors who are leaders in their community. Compete against juniors from other area schools to win a trip to a leadership conference at Washington University in St. Louis. Students who are strong academically and have good public speaking skills are encouraged to apply.

Free ACT Testing
February 26th & 27th
SUSD offers Juniors (only) the opportunity to take the ACT  FREE OF CHARGE this year during the school day on Feb 26th & 27th.
Not only is this national standardized test a college entrance exam which will benefit all students, but results will help SUSD evaluate itself compared to the nation. Please encourage your 11th grader to take part in this wonderful opportunity. Visit  www.act.org to learn more.

AHS Student Film Festival May 14th  - Sponsors & Donations Needed
The ever popular (and always sold out) Arcadia Student Film Festival is slated for  Monday evening  May 14 at the Harkins Shea 14 Theaters. The Arcadia ANN/Film students will showcase their talents at this annual event, under the direction of Instructor Eric Luse. This is the Arcadia Media Communications Program's biggest fundraiser of the year. New Kiva, Laguna Principals

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board has approved the hiring of Alice Spingola as principal of Kiva Elementary School and promoted Laguna Elementary School assistant principal Brooke Williams to principal.
The hiring and promotion were a part of the Governing Board's consent agenda, approved with a 5-0 vote.  The appointments are effective July 1, 2018.   READ MORE >>
Scottsdale Residents Rally

Hundreds of Scottsdale residents, parents and teachers lined the street outside Coronado High School Tuesday ahead of a school board meeting to call for new district leadership. 
They stood with signs demanding that the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board fire Superintendent Denise Birdwell.
A gathering called  #Rally4SUSD has an online petition calling for Birdwell's immediate termination that has more than 1,000 signatures.
"We respect the community's right to gather and express their concerns. ... We hope tonight's event will be respectful and non-disruptive, so that we may have an opportunity to listen to concerns and to conduct business," board President Barbara Perleberg said in a statement.  READ MORE >>
