What's Holding You Back?

Hello from Sally McGhee ...

I once had a client refer to me as an "Olympic Gold Medal Organizer." I am the CEO and Sales Director of McGhee Productivity Solutions, I have a family and friends I often spend time with, I have many hobbies and I still have time to exercise, potter in my garden or lie about with a book on the weekends. I may seem like I have all the answers now, however, my closest friends know my history better! When I was little, my dad used to tell me, "If you could forget to put your head on in the morning, you would!" I was incredibly scatterbrained and disorganized, always forgetting my school books or homework.

My disorganized personality lead me to create my own system to keep me productive in 1989; Take Back Your Life! While I've learned over the years that Take Back Your Life really is a system that can work for anyone, I also continually see it not
working for a client because of old habits that they have yet to break.

When Jennifer and Adam came to me with the idea to create Optimizing Take Back Your Life: Breaking Old Habits, I was very excited. Our clients needed a solution for those pesky habits keeping them from trusting their system, living by their calendar and, ultimately, living in work-life balance. Breaking Old Habits is it!

I know from experience, as someone who was once quite disorganized, that old habits are really hard to break! We took the top old habits keeping our clients from adopting the TBYL methodologies; saying "yes" too often, wanting to be "nice" all the time, striving for perfection and wanting to control everything, and we turned them into a continuing education course. Whether your old habits are the ones listed above, or ones unique to you, this course will help you change them to reach your goals and live in work-life balance! Maybe you'll even be called an Olympic Gold Medal Organizer like me!

As always, I would love to hear how our work is impacting you. You can send us an email at  info@mcgheepro.com .

Enjoy our newsletter, and thank you for your continued support!

I wish you all the best on your productivity journey!

Replace Bad Habits with Good Ones
By Steven Crawford, Consultant

"First we form habits, then they form us.  Conquer your bad habits, or they'll eventually conquer you."
Rob Gilbert

Millions of people have bad habits they want to break; overeating, smoking, drinking, playing video games, biting fingernails, swearing, working too many hours, overcommitting...the list goes on and on.  So, you are not alone if you have a bad habit you want to overcome.

Bad habits are, well...bad.  We know they are bad, yet we continue to do them - and create more bad habits.  These bad habits adversely impact our work, our health, our relationships and rob us of time that can be used more productively.
I think we can all relate to bad habits and how they impact us but it's not always easy to set about making the changes necessary to overcome them.  Let's take a look at how to identify those bad habits and conquer them, lest we be conquered by them.

How did I form this bad habit?

Letting Yourself Say "Can" To Your Dreams
By: Mikaela Ruland, Marketing Manager

What's your dream?

Maybe it's that one wish that seems so hilariously unattainable that you don't mind saying it out loud.

Maybe it's a closely guarded secret, something always at the back of your mind.

What's your dream?

I guarantee when I asked that question that something popped into your head.  I would also bet my last dollar that when it popped into your head, it was followed by a plethora of reasons keeping it "just a dream."  So many of us live in a world of "can't".

"I can't do that because..."

Dreams scare us. Especially big dreams.  We want them so badly to happen that we become scared of failing.  And when we're scared, we start telling ourselves stories to make us feel better. The can'ts start popping up and pretty soon, they've sold us on their story. We're living in a world of can'ts READ MORE...
