It's Time for Kindergarten

A Kindergarten Readiness Meeting for parents of incoming kindergarten students in the Dallastown Area School District has been scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 19th, at York Township Elementary School.

To be eligible, a child must turn five on or before August 31, 2018. The meeting provides information to parents regarding the academic and social expectations of children in the kindergarten program, and provides an opportunity for parents to meet the kindergarten teachers. The meeting is for kindergarten parents only.
It's PSSA Time

All students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 will take the English Language Arts and Mathematics Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) beginning the week of April 9th. Additionally, students in grades 4 and 8 will participate in the PSSA Science assessment during the week of April 23rd.

During PSSA testing, each school has established its testing window and communicates those dates to students, parents, and guardians through school newsletters, parent letters, and each school's web page.

Just as parents help their child(ren) prepare for every school day, please help your child(ren) prepare for these assessments by encouraging them to get plenty of sleep the night before and providing them with a good breakfast on the mornings of the assessments. Results will be shared with parents when released by the state.

Early Childhood Pathway to Success

Dallastown Area School District's Early Childhood web page provides resources toward early childhood success. Early childhood activities can have a lasting impact on brain development of young children. Reading to your child as little as 10 minutes each day can strengthen the child's readiness for kindergarten.
