AB 1871 (Bonta): Don't Make Hunger a School Choice!

Hunger doesn't care where kids go to school. That's why California needs AB 1871 (Bonta) to guarantee that all low-income, public school students  -- including charter school students -- have access to free and reduced-price school meals. 

Please join us: submit a letter of support today for this important legislation.  Letters of support must be received by Thursday, March 15th to be considered for the bill's first  hearing in the Assembly Education Committee.

SB 900 (Wiener & Arambula): Double the 'Fresh' in CalFresh

SB 900 (Wiener & Arambula), the  California Fruit and Vegetable EBT Pilot Project bill, will be heard in the Senate Human Services Committee on April 10. Show your support for making healthy food more affordable - submit a letter of support for SB 900 today! Letters must be received by  Friday, March 30.

Show Your Support for School Breakfast 

Budget leaders will soon be making decisions about how our state funds programs that affect the health and success of California kids.  CFPA is requesting one million dollars annually over five years in the 2018-19 budget in order to extend California's successful Breakfast After the Bell Expansion grants The budget request is expected be heard by the Assembly and Senate Budget Subcommittees on Education Finance over the next two months.

Please submit a letter of support to California's budget leaders. Let them know that students across our state deserve access to the nutritious meals they need to learn, grown, and achieve at their full potential.

2018 CalFresh Forum is Wednesday 3/14!

Join us at CFPA's annual CalFresh Forum to dive deep into CalFresh policy at the federal, state and local levels. This year's event theme is People, Power, Progress! Presentation topics will include: innovative strategies to increase CalFresh participation, upcoming state legislation, the return of the three-month time limit for unemployed adults without children, the 2018 Farm Bill, how CalFresh supports healthy eating, and a review of Disaster CalFresh lessons learned and best practices.
