1.) You Can Help Solve the Climate Crisis

A.) Reduce Indiana's Carbon Footprint

What You Can Do in Your Personal Life
What You Can Do as an Advocate
Farmers Market
Shift to a more plant-based diet and support farmers' markets & CSAs! Oppose state legislation that would expand the number of highly polluting & carbon-intensive factory farms.
Where possible, install energy-efficient measures in your home, office, and place of worship.  Sign up for solar energy trainings in Indy and Carmel. Support state legislation that expands customer-owned rooftop solar energy.
Bike, walk, ride the bus, or carpool whenever possible. Support local efforts to increase mass transit, pedestrian, and biking options.

B.) Expand Indiana's Carbon Sink

Take Action! What You Can Do as an Advocate
Urge Governor Holcomb to sign on in support of the Mounds Greenway proposal (which would permanently protect a large forest area along the White River).   Also urge the Governor to support initiatives that set aside portions of our state forest system for permanent protection.

2.) What Motivates YOU to Support HEC?

Here at HEC, we are curious about the environmental concerns most on our supporters' minds, and are fortunate to have the opportunity to hear from you often on this front.  Here's what you've been telling us.

"I support HEC because I care about:
  • Curbing climate change, and feel the need for states, cities, and businesses to take the lead when national leadership is lacking
  • Having a voice of reason advocating for the environment in a turbulent, uncertain political environment
  • Promoting and paving the way for renewable energy
  • Protecting Indiana's water from nutrient pollution, coal ash waste, and industrial toxins
  • Advancing mass transit and other alternative forms of transportation
  • Making the Mounds Greenway a reality
  • Strategically taking on Indiana's biggest environmental challenges
  • Having someone in the Indiana Statehouse standing up for me
  • Rural Hoosiers exposed to toxic factory farm waste
  • Being civically active and engaged, which HEC enables
  • My family and our future"
We hope you too will support HEC this month for one, two or all the reasons listed above - and for other reasons all your own!

And -- as if you needed another good reason -- if you give before July 1st, your gift will be matched one-for-one thanks to the generosity of the Efroymson Family Fund, who are providing their largest ever gift match to HEC!

Thank you for joining us in our work to make Indiana a better place to live, work and play (and Happy Father's Day to all of the dads in your world)!
