Scholarship Breakfast
a Smashing Suceess
Over 200 people gathered together on Sunday morning at TABC for the annual Scholarship Breakfast. The beautiful and well-attended program paid tribute to honorees, Miriam and Ezra Lightman and Michele and Ben Cooper, for their dedication and service to TABC and the larger community. Both of their sons, Meir and Avi, graduated this week. The program also highlighted the impressive achievements of our academic teams and some of the student participants. Through the Bruce Ritholtz z"l Scholarship Fund, named for TABC parent and community leader Bruce Ritholtz z"l, TABC gave over $1 million in needs-based scholarships this year. We thank all those who donated and continue to donate to this fund. To read a beautiful article about the Scholarship Breakfast, click here, and to see more pictures, click here.
Commencement Ceremony Celebrates Class of 2017
TABC's class of 2017 marked the completion of their high school journey with a beautiful commencement ceremony on Monday night. After introductory remarks by Head of School Rabbi Asher Yablok and Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yosef Adler, valedictorian Yehuda Koslowe quoted from Kohelet to charge his classmates to take what they learned in TABC with them in the future. Daniel Zolty, Avi Cooper and Moshe Davis then represented the grade's completion of Massechet Megillah with a siyum. Salutatorian Hillel Koslowe addressed his grade with an entertaining lists of firsts and lasts for the Class of 2017, which was followed by the presentation of class awards. The program concluded with the presentation of diplomas. We look forward to hearing wonderful updates about the class of 2017's future endeavors. Mazal tov! Senior Dinner
Senior dinner was a chance for the grade to spend time together reminiscing on their journey over the past four years with each other and with their teachers. Several seniors received awards marking their contributions to the community. Adam Baron presented a gift to Rabbi Rich, who is also "graduating," after which Rabbi Rich movingly spoke about the role of rebbe and his time at TABC. For more pictures, click here.

Year End Seudah Shlishit
Rashi describes HaKadosh Baruch Hu's emotions, kaviyachol, at the end of Sukkot as feeling that it is difficult for Him to separate from the Jews. 150 of TABC's talmidim, incoming freshmen and rebbeim feel the same way, so they returned to TABC one more time for an end of the year seudah shlishit. Many talmidim stayed over in Teaneck for the event and one freshman even walked in from Englewood! The group davened Mincha together, heard shiurim from the Rabbis Raphi & Yoni Mand elstam and then headed to the Storm CafĂ© for seudah shlishit. Rabbi Rich, who is making aliyah, addressed the yeshiva one last time, followed by heartfelt zemirot and everyone returned to the Beit Midrash for Ma'ariv and a musical havdala, accompanied by the guitar playing of Yonatan Berner '17. Rabbi Halpert, the rav of Ahavat Shalom, which davens in TABC each Shabbat, came to join the festivities. He was amazed that talmidim would return to their school after the year is over, but we know that family always returns home. For more pictures, click here.

Tzurbah D'Rabbanan Celebrations
RABBI YABLOK'S 11TH GRADE
Rabbi Yablok and the 11th grade Tzurbah D'rabbanan celebrated their year-long study of Masechet Moed Katan with Dougie's. Over the year, the talmidim learned both independently and in a chabura while they covered the various sugyot of Chol Hamoed and Aveilut during their Mincha breaks.

RABBI YONI MANDELSTAM'S TZURBAH SIZZLE
The sophomore Tzurbah D'rabbanan program, led by Rabbi Yoni Mandelstam, celebrated a successful year of learning this week with the "Tzurbah Sizzle." Students came to TABC for a bbq, led by Tzurbah student Yonatan Katz. After enjoying a delicious meal, the students went to the Beit Midrash for one last shmooze from Rabbi Mandelstam. After davening Mincha, students were able to enjoy basketball in the gym. It was a successful event enjoyed by all.
Halacha Kollel Brings Students Together After School Year is Over
What an incredible three days!  Nearly twenty TABC students and alumni joined Rabbi Jachter for three days this week delving into practical Halachic issues.  The learning was augmented by on-site visits to Halachic institutions in our community.   On Monday we learned about Hilchot Eruvin and we looked at portions of the Teaneck and Englewood Eruvin.  On Tuesday we immersed ourselves in the study of Mikveh construction and visited the Teaneck Mikveh.  On Wednesday we analyzed decisions of the Beth Din of America resolving disputes about financial matters.  Overall, the Talmidim were very impressed to see Halacha not just something about which we learn in Sefarim, but something applied in real life.  Seeing these vital aspects of Jewish life was a dramatic eye opening experience for students.  Although this was the first year Rabbi Jachter conducted the hands on Halacha Kollel, he felt it was an outstanding success and hopes to tackle other topics next year such as Kashrut.

Alumni First to Escape "Houdini Room"
by Moshe Davis

We are uber proud to share the first of many successes from our graduating class of 2017. Alumni Avi Cooper, Moshe Davis, Hillel Koslowe, Yehuda Koslowe, and Daniel Zolty put their erudition on display as they escaped the legendarily difficult 'Houdini' Escape The Room in the Kingston Collection mall near Cape Cod.

This highly impressive feat would surely be enough to make us all bask in tremendous prid e. What makes this accomplishment all the more impressive, though, is that they were the FIRST of dozens of attemptees to ever escape the notorious "level five" Houdini room.

If today's accomplishment is any indicator of the future, we are sure that these five stellar alumni will continue to make us proud.
