Dear CIM Supporters,

July is usually a quiet month for us, but with the groundswell of activity leading up to our trip to the All-Ireland Fleadh in Ennis from August 14-21st, the beginning of summer term, and wrapping up MIM, we have been busy as bees!

Summer term is off to a good start with the highest enrollment we've ever seen at CIM!  It's not too late to register, so check out our summer offerings here

Before going full-steam ahead with summer, I'd like to thank the incredible team of volunteers who made the 10th Annual MIM weekend a great success.  Be sure to peruse the photos below taken by CIM's new Events & Communications coordinator, Aja Beers, or check out the album on Facebook.

Thanks also for those of you who jumped right in with gifts to make CIM's first group trip to the All-Ireland Fleadh happen.  After the Midwest Fleadh, 18 students and their families rallied together and made the commitment to go, but your financial backing makes this a community-supported endeavor.  We are very proud to be representing the Center for Irish Music in Ennis, and will keep you in the loop every step of the way.  Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, plus stay tuned for a new blog coming soon.

Finally, please join me in thanking CIM staff member Brianna Hager, who had her last few days at CIM in June.  Over the past 18 months, Brianna has brought enthusiasm and exceptional organizational skills to our events. Bri, we wish you and your family all the best as you prepare for your second baby!

Have a wonderful 4th of July!

Bringing Home the Tradition: We Did it!

Thanks to your generous contributions, we are on our way to the All-Ireland Fleadh in August!  In less than 10 days we met our Board Challenge Match , securing the resources to send an instructor to the fleadh to support the three groups who will be competing.

In addition, the students themselves played their way to reaching an initial goal of $2500, enabling each one of them to attend Scoil Éigse, the 4-day traditional Irish music workshop in Ennis before the competitions kick off.

We are overwhelmed by your support for this opportunity to "hand down the tradition" and look forward to bringing it back home to Minnesota.

Go raibh maith agat!

Additional donations received through the end of our fiscal year (July 31, 2017) will now help to support additional student scholarships, low-cost instrument rentals, and public programs that reach nearly 15,000 music lovers every year. Private contributions from people like you help to pay for nearly 20 percent of our annual operations, helping to ensure that we're here to "hand down the tradition" for many years to come.

August 11-13 on Harriet Island!

Irish Fair 2016
Each year in August we celebrate all things Irish at the Irish Fair of Minnesota. We hope you will join us for a weekend full of family-friendly music, dance, crafts, sports, and fun with friends.

We are asking for your help in staffing our information booth to spread the word about the Center for Irish Music's wonderful classes and programs.

This is a wonderful way to meet fellow CIM students and families AND to share your enthusiasm for CIM with fair passers-by. Thank you in advance for the generous gift of your time.

Plan on joining us all three days of the fair to hear great music from our ensembles and instructors - and to cheer them on! We will post a CIM performance schedule in our August newsletter. You can also view the  complete schedule (when it is ready) on the Irish Fair's website.

The Heathery Hills
By Rita Gallagher, TG4's Gradam Ceoil 2017 Singer of the Year

"The listener will quickly fall under the spell of the distinctive internal rhythm of her singing style, which is allied to her remarkably natural use of controlled ornamentation in the unconstrained and highly individual delivery of a melodic line."
