Festivities Start @ 5 pm - Auten Rd. Intermediate School;

Boy Scout 1776 Celebrate their 50th Anniversary
Members of Boy Scout Troop 1776 received a proclamation from the Mayor and Township Committee in honor the Troop's 50th Anniversary.
Boy Scout Troop 1776 was formed in April 1967 consisting of five scouts and currently n
ow boasts a roster of over 50 boys and 40 adult leaders.
The
Troop's identifying number, 1776, holds special significance for them as they are regularly connected to yearly activities commemorating the country's storied history.
Troop 1776 held their 50th Anniversary celebration weekend on June 17th and June 18th with family-friendly activities including lashing demonstrations, family games, campfire skits, rocket launches and a flag ceremony featuring Troop Militia and Drum Corps demonstrations.

Flagtown Fire Honors New Apparatus
On Saturday, June 10th Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company #1 - Flagtown Fire hosted a traditional community event to honor their newest apparatus. As part of the community event, various fire companies throughout the area participated in a competition of pride for their best appearing apparatus. Judging for the friendly competition was conducted by the Fire Chiefs Association. An estimate of over 500 guests joined in the festivities. Community involvement didn't end there, guests interested in acquiring a commemorative mug were then offered a custom brew from Hillsborough's own Flounder Brewing Company made in honor of the event.

Deputy Mayor McCauley Speaks at 'BORO Girl Scouts Awards Night
Friday, June 2nd, Hillsborough Middle School was the site for the 'BORO Girl Scouts Awards Night, in which Scouts who earned the prestigious Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards along with Adult Volunteers were recognized for their dedication and service to our community. There are more than 80 troops serving the Hillsborough community.

Hillsborough Township's Community Night at Somerset Patriots - Friday, July 7th at 7:05 pm
First Pitch by Mayor Carl Suraci
Mayor Carl Suraci announced at Tuesday's meeting that the Somerset Patriots will be hosting a Hillsborough Community Night on Friday, July 7th at the 7:05 pm game.
"Join us on Friday, July 7th for Hillsborough Community Night to cheer on the Somerset Patriots as they battle the Sugar Land Skeeters, hailing from Sugar Land, Texas," stated Mayor Suraci.
"Yours truly will be throwing out the first ceremonial pitch. At the end of the game, we encourage everyone to stay and enjoy their fabulous fireworks display," added Mayor Suraci.

Registration Now Open for Recreation Programs
Summer Camp Registration
Summer Recreation Camp registrations are currently being accepted. Camps for 5 to 11-year-olds are held at Auten Road and Amsterdam Schools. Camp for 12 to 14-year-olds will be held at Hillsborough Middle School. Tiny Camp for 4 and 5-year-olds will be at Hillsborough Elementary School. Camps begin on Monday, June 26th and run for 8 weeks through August 18th. Information and registration are available on the Parks & Recreation website.

Clean Up Coupons Available
Limited availability for all dates
Coupons for access to drop off at the Auten Road Facility are available at the Hillsborough Township Department of Public Works (DPW) office, located at 21 East Mountain Road, Monday through Friday, 7am to 3pm.
- Coupons are distributed on a first come first serve basis
- First availalbe date is August 5th
- One coupon per household per year

- The young woman must be at least 50% Italian
- Must be a resident of Hillsborough, NJ
- Must be continuing her education
- Must be between the ages of 18 to 25 years old
- Must be comfortable speaking in public
- Must learn the Motto and purpose of UNICO
- Must attend the: Hillsborough Rotary Fair Special Needs Day in August, 2017
- Must be able to attend John Basilone Parade in Raritan, Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017
- The successful applicant will be invited to attend: Annual Comedy Night Fundraiser.
- The successful applicant will provide assistance, however possible, with Comedy Night Fundraiser

Parents who host teenage drinking parties or allow underage adults to drink in their home need to know the consequences of the law.
- Fact #1 - It is illegal in NJ to serve alcohol to anyone who is under the legal drinking age of 21 (NJSA 2C:33-17a).
- Fact #2 - It is illegal in NJ to make your home or property available for the purpose of allowing anyone who is under the legal drinking age of 21 a place to consume alcohol (NJSA 2C:33-17b).
- Fact #3 - Any person who serves or makes alcohol available to a person under the legal drinking age of 21 is subject to a $1,000 fine and up to 180 days in jail per person served. Parents can be held civilly liable even if they are not present during the time of the party (NJSA 2C:33-17).
- Fact #4 - If serving an underage person alcohol results in injury, the adult may be charged with Endangering the Welfare of Children, and may be subject to a fine of up to $15,000 and up to 5 years in state prison (NJSA 2C:24-4).
- Fact #5 - New Jersey Law imposes civil liability on social hosts who serve alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age of 21 who is subsequently involved in an incident causing injury or death.
- Fact #6 - A social host may be sued for up to two years after an incident that occurs resulting in injury or death. As the result of a lawsuit, your house, car, and bank accounts may be seized and future wages may be garnished.

You Can Help Curb Hunger in Somerset County!
Even though Somerset County is known for its affluence, food insecurity for children and adults is an enduring issue. Freeholder Director Peter S. Palmer is urging residents to help change that by supporting the 23rd annual Curbing Hunger Month food drive.
State Sen. Kip Bateman, members of the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and food bank supporters gathered at the Food Bank Network of Somerset County to launch this year's program, which will help boost food supplies at the Franklin Township Food Bank as well as other local food pantries serving Somerset County residents.
