Mentor Training Institute Workshop for Nurse Mentors
August 17-18, 2017

With the overall goal of increasing diversity in the nursing workforce the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence has designed a workshop for mentors to develop the necessary skills to build effective mentoring relationships.

Key skills required to be effective mentors will be taught in this two day workshop. Mentors attending this workshop will be expected to mentor a nursing student from a racial and ethnic minority group* for one year. For this mentoring program, BSN, MSN, PhD or DNP nurses from a racial and ethnic minority groups are preferred and encouraged to attend this workshop, however the workshop is open to all nurses interested in becoming mentors. Space is limited. 

Participants are expected to attend both days of the workshop.  Participants in this workshop will sign agreements to mentor a nursing student from a racial and ethnic minority group for one year. This commitment includes monthly mentoring sessions with the mentee, and one hour monthly group coaching session for mentors.

When and where is the Workshop being held? Thursday, August 17th and Friday, August 18th from 8:00-4:30 each day. Centrally located at the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence--5290 E. Yale Cir. Suite 100 Denver, CO 80222.

There is an administrative fee of $50 to attend.  This fee is to cover material expenses excluded from grant funds.  Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided each day.  

The registration process is two-fold. Once registered you will be asked to complete additional paperwork as per grant reporting requirements. 

Contact Hours will be awarded for those who attend the entirety of the workshop.

Cancellation Policy
If a participant cancels 30 or more days prior to a workshop, they will receive a 95% refund, less a 5% administration fee. If a participant cancels 15-29 days prior to the workshop, they will receive a 90% refund, less a 10% administration fee. If a participant cancels 14 days or less prior to the workshop, all fees are completely non-refundable. If the Center cancels a workshop all fees will be refunded 100%.

 

*For the purpose of this project “Racial and Ethnic Minority Group” means American Indians (including Alaska Natives, Eskimos, and Aleuts); Asian Americans; Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders; Blacks; and Hispanics.
