PATH Intl. Credentialing Council (PICC) Eligibility and Nomination Process

As preparations for holding the credentialing council election draws close to completion, we want you to know what to expect with regards to the process of nominating credentialing council candidates. The purpose of today's communication is to introduce the considerations for nominating an individual for the PATH Intl. Credentialing Council.

PICC members will be given essential tasks to support the development and maintenance of PATH Intl. certification programs and eventually the center accreditation program. An overview of the expectations for each member are:
  • Shall actively participate in essential tasks related to PATH Intl. certification programs and center accreditation programs
  • Shall only hold one PICC Council Representative position at any time
  • Shall not during their term(s) of service and for two years afterward develop, deliver, approve, endorse, or recommend any education or training programs and products designed or intended to prepare candidates for certification examinations
  • May not mentor PATH Intl. certification candidates during their term(s) of service and for two years afterward
  • Shall not take any PATH Intl. certification exam during their term(s) of service and for two years afterward

As communicated in the previous Trek to Accrediting the PATH Intl. Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor Certification, the positions* to be filled are:
  • PATH Intl. Therapeutic Riding Instructor - Registered level
  • PATH Intl. Therapeutic Riding Instructor - Advanced level
  • PATH Intl. Therapeutic Riding Instructor - Master level
  • PATH Intl. Certified Driving Instructor - Level 1 or Level 2
  • PATH Intl. Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning
  • PATH Intl. Interactive Vaulting Instructor
  • PATH Intl. Lead Site Visitor
  • Premier Accredited Center - Smaller Center (under $300,000 in EAAT 
    revenue)
  • Premier Accredited Center - Larger Center (over $300,000 in EAAT revenue)
  • Representative at Large (must be either a representative from a PATH Intl.
  • Premier Accredited Center or hold a PATH Intl. Certification)
  • Public Member - must represent the population served by certification and accreditation and meet NCCA standards for a Public Member representative. The public member cannot be certified, work for an EAAT center, or be a member of PATH Intl.

    *The registered therapist position has been removed due to a conflict between membership and certification separation per NCCA Standards.  
The ideal candidate(s) will possess:
  1. Experience with at least two of the following:
       *   Accreditation of a certification program
       *   Assessment design
       *   Job task analyses (i.e. identifying candidate knowledge, skills and 
           abilities)
       *   Item writing for examinations
       *   Analysis of test question performance
       *   Analysis of test procedure performance
       *   Quality assurance compliance
  2. Proven experience as an active member of a committee as evidenced by references
  3. Experience representing professional peers in a leadership role for a professional organization
  4. Dedication to the PATH Intl. mission, pursuit of NCCA accreditation and the Credentialing Council purpose as stated in the charter
  5. Current certification where applicable, represented by the position being considered
  6. Current PATH Intl. membership as required by the representative position being considered
Now, with all of that in mind, we invite you to take a moment to review the nomination forms and start brainstorming who you think would be a qualified candidate for the credentialing council. Self-nominations will be accepted. Individuals may also proactively submit a consent to serve form if they anticipate being nominated. Nominations will open July 10th and close on August 7th. Members will be notified when nominations are open. Candidates will receive confirmation of their eligibility for the ballot following the Nomination Review Task Force's review of the nominations. The ballot for the election will be announced on August 14th. We encourage you to submit your nominations early to allow the nomination review task force sufficient time to verify the eligibility of all candidates.
