Congratulations Class of 2017!
On Sunday, June 4th the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute graduated 332 seniors and
Class of 2017 at graduation
officially welcomed the Class of 2017 as Poly alumni! Just a few of the impressive class accomplishments include:           
  • The Class of 2017 had an astonishing FOUR valedictorians who all held 5.107 weighted and 4.0 unweighted GPA.
  • The class of 2017 had a college acceptance rate of 99%.
  • They received 800 acceptances to more than 130 colleges and universities, including Yale, Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland, Morgan State University and many, many more.
  • 208 of the class took a total of 655 AP Classes.
  • The class received more than $ 26.9 million in scholarships directly from institutions of higher learning.
  • The class earned an incredible 69,351 hours of Service Learning.
As you can see, the Class of 2017 is a welcomed addition to the Poly legacy of excellence! Kudos '17!

BPI Foundation Scholarships Awarded

On May 4th, the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute Foundation hosted the 4th Annual Foundation Scholarship Reception at Miss Shirley's Cafe in Roland Park. Thanks to the continued generosity of Poly Alumni, over $98,000 was awarded to more than 50 students! The BPI Scholarship Program helps make college obtainable, helps to decrease student debt, and ultimately inspires Poly alumni and students to help others and give back to the community. We certainly cherish ALL of our scholarship recipients and donors!

Poly Senior Named The Sun's Athlete of the Year
Well deserved congratulations go to Will Henderson '17, who was named The Baltimore Sun's male Athlete of the Year for his excellence in track and field at the 51st annual awards luncheon. Read more about his incredible athletic highlights and future plans here
Rebecca Brody '18

National Biotech Conference to Include Poly Junior
Junior Rebecca Brody is heading to San Diego, where she will be one of 15 national finalists presenting in the BioGENEius Challenge. Brody's research is focusing on producing cells that could be used to replace blood vessels that were damaged by injury or disease. Best of luck, Becca!

Poly student & faculty selected for 2017 Bezos Scholars Program
Congratulations to Isaac Spokes '18 and World Language Chair Seniora Regina O'Neal for being selected to participate in the 2017 Bezos Scholars Program. Founded in 2005 by the Bezos Family Foundation, the Bezos Scholars Program provides a trip to the Aspen Ideas Festival in June to thirty exceptional high school students and educators from across the U.S. and the African Leadership Academy.  Following the week of learning and leadership development in Aspen, rising seniors and their educators return home to organize their own community change projects, known as Local Ideas Festivals. We can't wait to learn more from our Bezos Scholar and educator upon their return from Aspen and develop their Local Ideas Festival here at Poly!

Poly Music Department and STEP Team to preform at ARTSCAPE 2017!
Poly is pleased to announce that as part of the City Schools' performances, our very own marching band will perform at Artscape on July 23rd from 3pm - 3:45pm in the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Additionally, the "Extradition" step team will perform on July 22nd from 2pm - 2:45pm in the Joseph Meyerhorf Symphony Hall. These performances will give Poly students the opportunity to showcase their talents to the more than 350,000 festival goers that are attracted by the largest free arts festival in America!  For more information on the Poly performances at Artscape, click here. Poly Alumni Corner: Join us in recognizing the great career of Richard C. Tucker, '59!
Richard C Tucker '59
Richard C Tucker '59 went to Georgia Tech and earned a BCE '64 and MSCE '65.
After gradation, he had 5 years of government service including serving as Staff Water Resources Engineer on a Presidential/Congressional Commission on national water problems. Most of his career was in consulting engineering, retiring as President and CEO of Environmental Resources Management, Inc. He was very active in national and international professional activities including the Presidency of the American Water Resources Association. For many years, he chaired the GT Civil and Environmental Engineering External Advisory Board (EAB) and the GT College of Engineering EAB. He was inducted into the GT Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni and later into the GT Engineering Hall of Fame. He attributes a great deal of his success as an engineer to his great education at Poly and the lessons he learned as a Poly student.

Poly/City Golf Tournament
The 2017 Annual Poly & City Golf Tournament will be held at the Country Club of Maryland in Towson, the usual place.
