The growing season is here and Farmers Markets are open!

  • Potsdam - at Ives Park every Saturday from 9:00 to 2:00
What might you find at a Farmers Market in July?  B eans, beets, berries, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, collard greens, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, herbs, leeks,  onions, peas, peppers, radishes, spinach, summer squash, swiss chard, tomatoes, and turnips, are all likely.  In addition, the markets frequently have other food, such as honey, maple syrup, local meat, and baked goods.  Don't forget many times there are also local wine and craft vendors, making the farmers market a great gathering place and community hub..  Come for the food, stay for the fun!

Remember that debit/credit cards and SNAP-EBT cards are welcome at all the Farmers Markets in St. Lawrence County.

Double your money at the markets!

GardenShare is once again doubling the value for SNAP customers at the farmers markets.  Just swipe your SNAP-EBT card at the market managers booth and you'll receive tokens for twice the value that you swipe.  The tokens can't be spent with market vendors for fresh produce and other eligible food items.

New this year!

With generous support from the Allen Foundation, GardenShare is excited to roll out a new program this year for lower-income and working families who do not receive SNAP.  Eligible households will be able to buy a $10 punch card for just $5.  These cards are redeemed with the market manager for tokens that can also be used to purchase eligible food items.  Find full details, eligibility information, and application process here.

Dinner and Auction Success!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

To everyone who helped make our 2017 Dinner and Auction fundraiser a record-setter of a success.  Whether you volunteered, bought tickets, donated to the auction, or sponsored the event, you were part of the amazing results - a net of $9,700 raised, compared to $5,700 last year!

Presenting sponsors who helped make this event possible included St. Lawrence Health System, North Country Savings Bank, and Stauffer Farms.  Other sponsors included Frazer Computing and Green Hammer Construction.  Thank you all!

Thank you to Jake's on the Water for hosting this event.  The sell-out crowd of 102 was a challenge for the restaurant, but they came through with flying colors.  The menu was phenomenal in its creative and tasty use of locally grown food and the service impeccable.

The amazing volunteer committee that pulled together the auction for this event demonstrated the difference that a small group of people can make.  All of the local farms, individuals, and businesses who donated items for the auction made this event's success possible and proved their commitment to fighting hunger in the region.  A complete list of all the donors to the auction can be found here.

The event was made even more special by Never Tire Farm, who donated basil and tomato plants to decorate the tables and for guests to take home at the end of the evening.
