Summer Reading Lists
Miller - Driscoll School does not have a summer reading list.
Cider Mill has a list compiled by a parent.

Miss Andrea recommends Orphan Island by Laurel Snyder
Nine children live on a mystical island enjoying their days hunting for crabs, collecting honey, and eating delicious plomms. Each year the eldest child is whisked away on a boat into the mist never to be seen again, while another young child is delivered to the island. This is how it has always been, but not for long. This year, Elder Jinny decides she would rather stay on the island. Many strange things start to happen and the island begins to change. How can Jinny and the others restore the island?
This is a coming-of-age story wrapped in mystery. The ending may surprise readers or leave them wanting more, which is nice to find in children's books. I recommend this title to kids who like surreal fiction that is character driven. Recommended for ages 10 and up.
