Dear  ,

We are currently monitoring more than 20 PLA threats. This week alone there have been votes to negotiate 2 PLAs.

It's a busy time.

Education
Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District:  On June 1st Trustees at FSUSD voted 5-2 on a Project Labor Agreement that had been "negotiated" with local union bosses for the District's $249 million Measure J construction bond. CFEC and our allies have spent over 6 months fighting this fight but in the end it was a corrupt board majority that decided to put big labor special interests ahead of students, workers, contractors, and taxpayers.

You can email the yes-voters of Fairfield-Suisun USD Board of Trustees with your disappointment by clicking the links below:

But more importantly, please email the two brave trustees who did the right thing:

Martinez Unified School District:  On Monday, in a 3-2 vote, the Trustees at MUSD voted to begin "negotiations" on a PLA for the District's $120 million Measure J construction bond. CFEC and our allies spoke out against this scheme and have spent more than 4 years keeping the PLA at bay. But 3 Trustees, one of them a union boss(!), didn't care about facts or reason.

The Trustees contact information is  here. Please contact Trustee Fuller and McLaughlin and thank them for voting against the PLA.

Santa Rosa Junior College:  Tuesday SRJC Board of Trustees voted 4-3 to approve "negotiations" with local union bosses for a PLA to cover the work to take place on the District's $140 million Measure H. Despite receiving horrible press over this decision 5 members of the Board, all of whom received substantial union support to get elected, voted with their union owners.

Please contact the Board today and make sure to thank Trustees Kunde, Lindley, and Edgar for voting against the PLA.

Palomar College:  The Board of Trustees will have their next PLA Work Session on June 27th. Please contact the Trustees and let them know how you feel about PLAs. You can reach the trustees here:

Cities
City of San Jose:  This is a PLA by another name. On private work! The South Bay Labor Council is exploring, through the 2018 ballot, a "Local Hiring Ordinance". Union bosses want to require large and medium-sized commercial and residential development projects that receive a public subsidy to pay union wages and hire "local workers". CFEC is involved in helping to defeat this effort so stay tuned!

City of San Francisco:  Our meetings with City Council members continues as we try and educate them about why a city-wide union PLA would be a bad idea. If you would like to join us at these meetings please contact CFEC today.

Chula Vista Bayfront:  We know that unions want a PLA on all work to take place on what is built here and now we have good word that the developer there may be willing to cave to them. We are aggressively working to fight this possibility. Stay tuned!

City of San Diego Convention Center Expansion and New Soccer Stadium :  Unions want PLAs on both of these projects. If you want to help us fight these threats let us know!
