It's summer in Nevada City and our little town is alive with the excitement of art and events! The gallery is in full swing, with my new series After the Rain, new artist Martha Meredith's show Daybreak opening July 1, and several new shows in August.

I'm pleased to announce that my painting Presence (see below) has been accepted into the California State Fair, July 14-30.   This is a statewide juried show of the best contemporary art in California...a tough show to get into, and this is my fifth year of acceptance!

New Work

Inspired by the deluge of rain this spring, I've been tucked away in my studio in the gallery, working on a new series for my show "After the Rain" that is currently showing.  My new paintings explore local waterways with an expressionistic style of painting. Large format paintings of Deer Creek, the Yuba River and local streams that carved their way through the landscape light up with the use of translucent and opaque colors, rich canvas-like textures, and subtle collage applications.

Again, I can't insist enough, please come see them in person in the gallery if you can. There's nothing like seeing the scale and color of the real thing.
