Beautiful Faces of America! May 2017
The past 10+ days have been very impactful on the modern Jewish calendar - Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day; Yom Hazikaron - the Memorial Day observed in memory of the fallen Israel Defense Forces men and women, and Yom Ha'atzmaut - the observance and celebration of the 69th Anniversary of the statehood of modern Israel, Medinat Yisrael.

These past 10+ days have also been incredibly active and busy for Nathaniel and me. A week ago, Sunday April 23rd, I presented at the Five Towns Yom HaShoah Commemoration. Then, on Monday, I presented at the Rodeph Shalom School in New York City. Tuesday, Nathaniel drove us up to Albany, NY, where on Wednesday morning; I presented at the Capital Region BOCES to a group of enthusiastic librarians, and in the afternoon, at Guilderland High School. Thursday morning, I spoke at Loudonville Christian School, and in the afternoon, at the Academy of the Holy Names, large girls Catholic high school.

The following Sunday, April 30th, we made a 9:30 Delta flight to Chicago's O'Hare airport, and from there, took a car service to Rockford, IL, where I presented under the aegis of the Jewish Federation of Rockford at the University of Illinois Rockford campus. Monday morning, I spoke to students and staff at the Flinn Middle School in Rockford, and in the afternoon, at the Hester Junior High School in Franklin Park.

Tuesday, I presented at the Jackson Middle School in the morning and the Jefferson Middle School, both in Villa Park. On Wednesday afternoon, I spoke at the Virgil Grissom Middle School in Tinley Park, and at night, back in Villa Park to a community in District 45.

On Sunday, May 7th, I presented at the 6th Avenue Synagogue in New York City and on Monday, May 8th, at our own Woodmere Middle School in the morning and in the afternoon at the Jennie Hewitt Elementary School in Rockville Centre.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, we fly off to Central New York for 12 schools and this will be our 15th consecutive year in this beautiful area in Upstate New York.

Yes, much travel, much speaking, much exhaustion, but ever so gratifying to reach such a great number of students and seniors!
Wishing all a wonderful spring,
Hugs, Marion.

P.S. There were 2 firsts on our visit to Illinois. Our first ride ever in a Hummer, and our first ride ever by Uber. Both rides were great, as were the drivers!
P.P.S. All of our contact people in every area and all the people we met along the way were so very congenial, warm, friendly, and welcoming! We live in a wonderful, beautiful country and we should all be grateful for that!
