Let Us Keep You In Our Thoughts and Prayers
The memorial service for Esel Rasor has been rescheduled for Friday, June 30 at 2:00pm . Please hold John Rasor in your hearts and prayers as he recovers from recent surgery.  "To live in hearts that love is not to die."

Our pastoral care notices will be provided only in our weekly newsletter going forward. We will no longer send additional Pastoral Care alerts between newsletters. If you have a concern for a member of the congregation, please don't hesitate to contact Rev. Tina at 271-9070 x104.

Happening in the Week Ahead
Say Goodbye & Good Wishes to Rev. Carlos
Everyone's invited to a potluck lunch this  Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 11:30am (after the 10:00am service, and time to move chairs/tables) in the Sanctuary. We'll have plates and silverware. Please bring a dish to share. If you have a question, contact Chris Farnum.
Accepting Nominations for the Greater Good Project
Do you know a community organization that empowers people and aligns with UU values? The Greater Good Committee is interested in hearing our church members' nominations for next year's Greater Good Project. We will collect nominations through Tuesday, June 20 at 5:00pm. To nominate a non-profit you believe in, email Greater Good Projector visit the Greater Good table after services on Sunday, June 18 to submit nominations.
Immigrant Rights Action in the Rochester Area
Are you concerned about what's happening to immigrants in our area under the Trump administration?
Wondering how you can help? Our Social Justice Council encourages all to attend the Greater Rochester Coalition for Immigration Justice presentation to learn about the important initiatives in the Rochester area confronting the immigrant crackdown Tuesday, June 20, 7:00-9:00pm, here at our church. For more information, contact Grania Marcus. This event is free to all, and co-sponsored by our church.
Summer Solstice Event
On Wednesday, June 21, 6:30-8:30pm, our Buddhist Fellowship invites you to celebrate Earth consciousness and Buddhist awareness, connecting with nature's rhythms and focusing on mindfulness and community. The program will start with meeting in the lower garden by the labyrinth (east of the parking lot) at 6:30pm where instructions and plans for the evening will be given. There will be a ceremony of welcoming and an honoring of the four directions before inviting people to walk the meditative labyrinth in silence. As people enter the labyrinth, the group will be asked to contemplate "What is the light within?" When people exit the labyrinth, they will be given a candle to carry up to Gilbert Hall, where there will be a combination of readings and silent meditative sitting. The evening will end with refreshments. For further information, contact Hugh Mitchell.
Upcoming Events & News
Nature Walk
The Environmental Climate Task Force is sponsoring a nature walk with Landscape Team member Karen Evans on Sunday, June 25, at 11:15am. We will meet outside the church main entrance. Both families with children and individuals are invited to join us. At the end of the walk, we will meet in the Council Circle for a snack and questions, and for more information about our beautiful gardens. So that we have an idea how many are interested, please respond to Sue Steepy .
And let's hope we have a sunny day!
Religious Education Staffing Update
As we round the end of the church year, we are saying goodbye to Dana Lundquist, Director of Junior High Youth and Coming of Age.  Dana and her husband are moving south, AND she will continue to serve a UU church there! We are grateful for her enthusiasm, deep UU commitment, and fabulous engagement with our 6-9th graders over the last two years! We will also begin searching for staff support for our Youth Program, as Jerry Ingram's position was not replaced after his departure this Spring.  If you know someone who may be a great candidate or interested in either position, please contact Sheila Schuh at 585-271-9070 x109.
Big Food Donations Last Weekend
Thanks to the mystery donors who left bags and boxes after last Sunday's service. For next Sunday, more canned fruit and cereal would still be appreciated. For questions or more information, email Alison Wilder .
Do You Have a Key to the Building?
In the coming church year, we will be making some changes to address several security issues at the church. The first part of that will be re-keying the front and back doors. This is scheduled to be done during the last week of June. All persons who are on the list of current key holders will be advised via email of the date of the change, and that they will each need to turn in their old key, and sign out a new key. We greatly appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation with this necessary security measure.
The UU Open Golf Outing is Just Five Weeks Away - July 16
Join in the fun and festivities that surround our church's annual UU Open. You don't have to be a scratch golfer to enjoy 9 holes of golf with members and friends of the church. We play in a scramble format; it's fun to always hit from the fairways. If your team is the most skillful - or the luckiest - you will be rewarded by having your name engraved on the UU Open trophy. Even if you aren't on the winning team, it's fun to connect with others, meet others, see some really nice shots, and then enjoy dinner and potentially win a fun award. We'll be playing at Parkview Fairways on Sunday, July 16, teeing off at 1:15pm. It is just $45 to walk or $50 to ride. Sign up by emailing  Larry Eldridge . Include a guess at your handicap so we can balance the teams a bit, and indicate whether you plan to walk or ride.
Missing GUUSTO Banner
Social Justice Council would like to have the GUUSTO banner to march behind at the 2017 Pride Parade on Saturday, July 15 (save the date), but haven't seen it for many months. If you have any idea where it is, please email  Paul Minor or Penny Townsend-Quill.
Environmental Climate Task Force  Green  Tip of the Week
Sunscreens have become a complex issue. For assistance choosing one that is eco-friendly,  click here Reduce, Reuse, Re-Purpose, Recycle. click here.
Kahn's Corner
The Architect Search Committee for our church considered several other architects before choosing Kahn. At the time, he was a relative unknown. Other candidates considered were Frank Lloyd Wright, Eric Saarinen, Walter Gropius, and Paul Rudolph. The Committee decided that Kahn seemed to understand Unitarian Universalist values and was able to reflect them in his building design.
