Amory’s Fire-N- the Hole Great Steak Cook-off Classic Rules
- All steaks will be judged on appearance, doneness, tenderness and taste.
- Two rib-eye steaks will be selected by each team from those provided by the Officials. This will be done by chance drawing. Each selection shall be done within 20 seconds of the notification of the Official. No other rib-eye steaks are allowed in the cooking area. Disqualification could occur.
- Once given the notification each team may begin preparing the steaks for cooking. Steaks may be lightly trimmed before cooking.
- Each team must use the utmost cleanest and safety standards and is subject to Official inspection at all times. Teams shall notify Officials of any unsanitary conditions that may happen. Plastic gloves must be used in handling steaks. Grills will be inspected for cleanliness before cooking. Disqualification can occur.
- Each team is responsible for all refrigeration needs. Cooking teams are responsible for providing sun shades, tables, chairs, etc. they might need at their cooking area.
- No branding irons or other identifying marks are to be used on the steaks other than normal grilling marks submitted for judging. Your entry will be automatically disqualified if presented for judging with any identifying marks.
- When the steaks are distributed, you will receive an official box to be used in submitting your entry to the judges. This box has a ticket attached to it that will be used to identify your team’s entry. This is how the officials in charge of tallying your score will know which team to assign points. The judges will not know the identity of the cooking teams. No other identifiable marks on the box will be allowed.
- In a time frame to be determined at the Head Cooks meeting, each cook team shall submit their entry in the official box and delivered to the judge’s area. Any entry not turned in on time will be disqualified.
- Only one steak shall be submitted by each team in the official provided box. The steaks will be scored by number only and the identifying number of the cooking teams will not be known until the awards ceremony. The panel of Judging will be in a blind format.
- All steaks submitted for judging are to be cooked medium. For this contest, medium is interpreted as pink and moist in the center of the steak – not red and running. The steak shall be place in the box whole and uncut. Any foil provided must stay under the steak. The entry shall not have any garnish or foreign objects placed in the box. This shall result in disqualification. Steak topping is not allowed.
- All cooking and meat preparation must be done on the official cook site. No steak shall leave the official cooking site until submitted to judges.
- Taste score will be the first tie breaker and tenderness score the second if needed.
- Chief Cook must attend cooks meeting at 9:00 a.m.
- Your Chief Cook must be 18 or older to compete and on site at all times.
- All Official Decisions Are Final.
Amory’s Fire-N- the Hole Cornhole Classic Rules
- All competitions are subject to the standard rules of a cornhole contest as interpreted by the on-site officials.
- Double Elimination.
- Mandatory team meeting at 9:00 a.m.
- All Official Decisions Are Final.
Contestant agrees to indemnify and hold the City of Amory, Frisco Park Committee, its employees and volunteers harmless from any and all claims made against any and all, including, without limitation, all costs, liabilities, judgments, expenses, damages and attorney’s fees, arising out of or in connection with (1) any structure erected by Contestant, (2) any apparatus, equipment, or personal property used by Contestant, (3) any act or omission to act of Contestant, its agents, invitees, participants, representatives, employees, servants and agents (4) any claims made on account or resulting from Contestant’s participation in the contest.
