Volunteer News
June 2017

Summer is nearly here!  While that means that most of our students will be out of school, many of children and families will still need your support!

We are currently brainstorming ways in which we can be most helpful to our families while school is out of session, and we are looking for you help in the process.

Please feel free to email us your ideas at: volunteer.educationproject@gmail.com

We look forward to your suggestions!
In order to meet the consistent needs of our students, we are always accepting donations of any size socks and underwear for any gender.

However, at this time, we are actively in need of underwear in women's sizes (able to fit middle school or high school students).

As such, we are reaching out to your for support, either through the purchasing of underwear, or donation of funds or gift cards that we can use to purchase items.

Donations can be mailed or dropped off to:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

As the school year winds down, so does backpack distribution.  As such, we will not be needing many weekly volunteers during the month of June.

But stay tuned!  As school supply drives happen over the summer, there will be more opportunities arising for supply organization and backpack assembly.

Please contact  volunteer.educationproject@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer. We want to be respectful of your time and involvement, and contacting the office beforehand helps us to confirm that there are volunteer needs on any specific day.

In the coming months, we will be combining The Education Project Volunteer newsletter with the Ozone House Volunteer newsletter.  Our goal is to provide timely information about meaningful ways for community members to help make a difference in the lives of homeless children and families.

In the meantime, c

The Education Project

The Education Project, sometimes known as the Education Project for Homeless Youth, is designed to ensure that students experiencing homelessness or unstable living situations enroll, regularly attend, and succeed in school.  Under the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, students who are homeless must have equal access to free and appropriate public education

The Education Project works closely with liaisons in the school districts, allies within each school, community partners, and families to identify and serve all youth affected by homelessness.
