Georgia Health News
The tan bungalow on the Gilbert Elementary School campus in LaFayette is scarcely bigger than a house trailer.
Although it could easily be mistaken for a temporary classroom, the building is a clinic. It’s one of six local medical clinics in rural Northwest Georgia run by Primary Healthcare Centers, a nonprofit that is designated as a federally qualified health center.

Low-cost health clinic gets a reprieve
Jun 5, 2017
DALTON, Ga. — The Partnership Health Center, which provides low-cost health care to those with low incomes, might get another lease at Dalton's Mack Gaston Community Center.
Members of the City Council wouldn't say much after emerging from a 45-minute executive session closed to the public and the media at City Hall Friday afternoon, but they did say they would like to renegotiate the lease that Georgia Mountains Health Services, the Morganton-based nonprofit agency that operates the Partnership Health Center, holds on space at the community center.

The Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition is dedicated to reducing the risk of skin cancer, and protecting our community members from harmful UV ways! Always using sunscreen when spending time outdoors is one of the best preventative measures against skin cancer and Melanoma. The rate of melanoma diagnoses are 13% higher in Georgia than the national average. The NWGRCC is working to install sunscreen dispensers throughout Northwest Georgia so that sun protection can always be at one’s fingertips. Look for them at your local parks and recreation facilities!
The Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition is also looking for partners to assist with maintaining the supply of sunscreen in the dispensers. We estimate the cost of keeping a dispenser filled to be approximately $1500/year per machine.
To learn more about this exciting, life-saving program, contact us at 706-409-5749 with questions about installing sunscreen dispensers in your area.
