Welcome LeeDa Allen
LeeDa Allen of Mooresville joined the MCEDC team in early June as our new Director of Business Operations. With her studies in criminal justice at Indiana Wesleyan University and her previous experience in administration with the Indiana Parole Board, LeeDa is looking forward to developing her understanding of Morgan County's economic and social issues to support MCEDC's efforts to grow primary jobs, new capital investment and knowledge-based opportunities in the county.

MCEDC Attends Japan-America Society of Indiana's Annual Gala
Thursday, June 22nd was an important evening in downtown Indianapolis as the Japan-America Society of Indiana (JASI) hosted 600 people for its annual meeting and dinner gala at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. Martinsville Mayor, Shannon Kohl, and Mooresville Town Council President, Mark Mathis, attended the event along with MCEDC Executive Director, Mike Dellinger. They were hosted by Harold Gutzwiller of event sponsor Hoosier Energy; Gutzwiller also serves as the president of the Mooresville Redevelopment Commission and has considerable relationships with Japanese industry in Indiana.
In addition, several members of the TOA USA leadership team were present at the gala, and that contingent was led by MCEDC Board member Bob Whyte who serves as Vice President of Operations at the Mooresville facilities. The annual event provides an opportunity for business and government leaders to summarize the strengths and opportunities that have evolved during decades of Japanese investment in Indiana, and to enjoy the cultural exchange that is an important part of this relationship.
As part of the annual gala, MCEDC was recognized for its commitment of $5,000 to fund the relocation and expansion of JASI's corporate offices in downtown Indianapolis. Nine local economic development organizations have made the commitment and will receive recognition at JASI's new locale, providing an important resource that assists Japanese businesses and families with their interests in Indiana while assisting Indiana companies with opportunities in Japan.

MCEDC Partners with USDA to Assist Local CNC Start-Up
MCEDC recently approved a $25,000 loan from its USDA Revolving Loan Fund to assist Multix Precision Manufacturing Company with its investment in CNC machining equipment. Multix Precision Manufacturing is a new company that was founded by Reann and Vann Sanders of Martinsville, and the company recently located its operations into a facility in Monrovia.
According to Mike Dellinger, MCEDC Executive Director, "The Revolving Loan Fund is an important resource that we can provide to small businesses. We appreciate the USDA's recognition of Morgan County and the value that the loan fund brings to our communities where entrepreneurs and small businesses often find it difficult to obtain capital for growth projects. The loan program continues to assist several well-reputed Morgan County businesses, and, as they repay their loans it increases our ability to assist others in need."

Martinsville Prioritizing Development Activities
Martinsville Mayor, Shannon Kohl, has been busy leading the charge to prioritize current, near-term and long-term plans for the city as volunteers and interested parties engage in updates to the city's comprehensive plan and land-use strategies. MCEDC is involved, offering perspective to the city administration and to landowners and businesses that see change on the Martinsville horizon.
With the I-69 project underway, city and MCEDC leaders have met with more than twenty property owners and businesses that would be affected by the infrastructure project. Mayor Kohl continues to summon the experience of city planners, professional staff, and elected officials to develop opportunities that will minimize the difficulties of the construction project while preparing for growth along the interstate corridor.
In addition, with major investments underway and more pending in downtown Martinsville, Mayor Kohl and the city administration are working with developers that are acquiring real estate in the central business district. These investors are planning and acting on their intentions to stimulate commerce through new restaurants, specialty retail, and residential redevelopment that will complement other downtown redevelopment projects, and they are committed to reinvesting their resources to help Martinsville become a jewel in the metro Indy crown. Endeavor, originally known as Clay County Rural Telephone Cooperative, was incorporated on May 25, 1950 to provide telephone service to small towns and rural areas.
We have grown to currently provide service to approximately 9,000 members. We also offer High Speed Internet, Television, IT Services, Security Solutions, Business Phone Solutions, and Wireless.
These new additions prompted a name change to reflect our wide variety of services and our extended territories. In 2007 we became Clay County Rural Telephone Cooperative doing business as Endeavor Communications.
