But while trying to ensure the Senators heard our message, we also realized it was important to glean from them what they felt to be credible arguments in favor of HB 590."  For those who were unable to meet in Raleigh earlier this week on House Bill 590, AIANC Advocacy Director Richard Alsop II, AIA, has organized another session for Tuesday, June 20.

Call for Applicants: YAF Leadership Program
 
Deadline: Thursday, June 22

DON'T DELAY. If you are an AIA member licensed 10 years or less, apply now for the YAF Leadership Program, kicking off in August. The program includes nine monthly sessions led by expert facilitators. These sessions will help you to improve your time-management skills, develop marketing techniques, learn about integrity in business, understand your personal leadership style, dig in to Charlotte's history, connect you with local non-profits, and teach you how to become more involved in local government and the AIA. The tuition cost is $200, and an optional one-on-one executive coaching session with a Certified Career Coach may be added at a discounted rate of $100 (a $400 value!). Any interested member may apply.

Wall of Compassion on Display at Spirit Square

The About Face Charlotte Wall of Compassion, a project that celebrates acts of kindness via a #blessingboxcampaign and built in part by members of AIA Charlotte's Workforce Advisory Group, will be on display in Spirit Square from June 19-24.

UNCC Alum Wins Knight Cities Challenge

Remember our #RailTrail presentation during Architecture Month? Maria Floren, a 2012 graduate of the Urban Design program at UNC Charlotte, and her co-worker Erin Gillespie (both of Center City Partners) were recently awarded a Knight Cities Challenge grant to improve the Rail Trail Grove & Field. AIA Public Awareness Campaign

AIA National's 2017 public awareness campaign, Blueprint for Better, shines a light on the powerful social impact of architects and their work. This year's efforts include a new commercial (airing on HGTV and Hulu) and the I Look Up Film Challenge. Everything you need to learn more about the campaign, how AIA National is getting the word out and how you can get involved, is now online

SpeakUp: July 19-21 in Denver

SpeakUp is the AIA's annual legislative and political advocacy leadership event,
