Waterfront Beautification 2017

by Henrietta Huff
Garden Coordinator

The Waterfront Cross garden has been a wonderful addition to our Belin Memorial campus. So many have enjoyed the beautiful new cross and gardens. Weddings, memorials, baptisms, and precious quiet times are a part of everyday happenings at the seawall.

It has become evident that there is a need to make the entire "waterfront park" area safer for those who visit. To accomplish this task, a low brick wall with seating will be constructed, extending out from the seawall cross. This will allow those who wish to enjoy the Inlet view to do so without sitting on the seawall.

We will once again be offering commemorative bricks for sale beginning July 1 to generate funding for this project. The bricks will be interspersed with seating stones. The cost is $150 per brick. Bricks will be sold through October 1, 2017.

Don't miss this new opportunity to honor or remember special family members, friends, or groups. Order forms are available in the church office, Family Life Center, and narthex (or click HERE to print form).

We look forward to sharing all of the exciting new work which will enhance our beautiful campus and, therefore, glorify God's gift to us all.

Creekfront Salkehatchie
July 15-22, 2017

Creekfront Salkehatchie campers will arrive at Belin Memorial on Saturday, July 15. They will be working for a week repairing designated homes in the Murrells Inlet area and will stay overnight in our Family Life Center. We thank all of the classes, groups, and individuals who have offered to prepare meals for the campers and all those who will help direct this camp, now in its fourth year at Belin Memorial.

Donations of Gatorade and water (12-20 oz. single serving size) are requested to help keep campers hydrated as they work at their sites throughout the week. Please drop donations in the Family Life Center lobby between now and July 15.

Please note: many of the normally scheduled activities in the Family Life Center have been cancelled or moved offsite to accommodate this mission group. There will be no Sunday school on July 16 as the classrooms will be in use. Everyone's cooperation in schedule revisions has been outstanding, and we thank you!

Belin Gardeners Need Your Help

So many of you have recognized the beauty and expansion of our church gardens. New plantings from our Easter donations have taken root adding to the glory! The gardens are an integral part of our church campus, and so many of you take the time to walk or sit for a few moments to enjoy them.

Please, continue to do so, and when you do, know that the Belin Gardeners need your help! The weeds are overtaking the gardens in some areas, and we don't have the work force to care for all of the garden areas properly. Just an hour a week would be such a gift; keeping one small area weed-free would be a great blessing. If you don't know the difference between a weed and a flower, we will guide you!

Join us any Wednesday morning at 9 AM outside of the Family Life Center to help. If you prefer to have an assigned garden that you can care for on your own schedule, just contact the Garden Coordinator, and she will work with you to get you started. All are welcome!

2018 BOI T-Shirt Design
Blessing of the Inlet T-Shirt designs, concepts, pictures, and ideas are needed for next year's Blessing of the Inlet t-shirt. You do NOT have to be an artist to make a contribution! We have a graphic artist who will help create the final design.

The theme for 2018 is "Love God - Love Others" based off of Ephesians 4:32 which says "and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you."

Please send your submissions to
[email protected] or to Austin Bond by October 1, 2017. The Blessing of the Inlet Committee will review all ideas and select one for next year's t-shirt. Be creative! Let's hear from you!
