UTAH AMERICORPS MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Voronnique Duong
is the Utah AmeriCorps Member of the Month! Voronnique is serving her second term as an AmeriCorps member with the Utah Healthcare Corps (UHC), an AmeriCorps program of the Association for Utah Community Health. She grew up in a disadvantaged neighborhood where multiple factors contributed to health inequities in her community, such as gang violence, teen pregnancy, and substance abuse. Voronnique was motivated to do something about it. She went on to become a first-generation college graduate and received her B.S. in Health Science. Immediately after graduation, an opportunity arose for Voronnique to serve as an AmeriCorps member with the Utah Healthcare Corps. She is currently serving as an AmeriCorps member at the Cache Valley Community Health Center (CVCHC) in Logan and is friendly, personable, and a positive voice for National Service.

AmeriCorps, also known as the Domestic Peace Corps, engages thousands of Americans nationwide in intensive, results-driven service in areas of education, public safety, health, and the environment. AmeriCorps members serve for up to a year and receive a modest living allowance, training,  and an education scholarship to pay for college or pay back student loans.
