HouseHouse Freedom Caucus: Cancel August Recess
Last Tuesday, June 6, the House Freedom Caucus issued this statement: "The House Freedom Caucus has taken an official position in support of the House staying in session through the August recess to continue working to accomplish the priorities of the American people."

According to CNP Member Richard Viguerie's ConservativeHQ (CHQ), an online news source, "One of the reasons for cancelling the August recess and working is that the House Freedom Caucus wants to 'go big' on a tax reform package to include welfare reforms.... We [CHQ] agree with our friends in the Freedom Caucus; it's time to go big on tax reform, and to do that Congress must work through the August recess to get a bill on the President's desk. The Capitol Switchboard is 1-866-220-0044, we urge CHQ readers to call their Representatives and Senators; tell them to skip the August Recess and put a pro-growth tax reform package on President Trump's desk."
clubClub for Growth Releases
2016 Congressional Scorecard
Each year the Club for Growth publishes a Congressional Scorecard that tracks how members of Congress vote on economic legislation. Throughout the year, the Club for Growth issues Key Vote Alerts urging Representatives and Senators to vote in favor of economic policies that strengthen our nation's economy and shrink the size of the federal government. Similarly, Key Vote Alerts are issued when it is imperative that lawmakers strike down legislation that will raise taxes, increase harmful regulation and grow our already massive government. At the end of the year, the Club for Growth tallies up how members of Congress voted on these key issues, along with other votes, and ascribes a score accordingly. It rewards free-market champions and exposes big-government, tax-and-spend politicians.

CNP Member David McIntosh is the President of Club for Growth.

  whiteWhite House Timely Requests

CNP Member and White House Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs Paul Teller has a couple timely requests:
  • As part of the Administration's continued push for enactment of the American Health Care Act (H.R. 1628), so that Obamacare can soon be repealed and replaced, please email Paul specific examples of harms inflicted by Obamacare on American individuals, families, organizations and businesses. President Trump has called for the Senate to pass this bill this month so that a final version can reach his desk for signature in July.
  • Paul welcomes your ideas on fundamental tax reform, as the proposed legislation is developed throughout the summer.
coalitionCoalition Letters Needing Signatures

The Family Research Council (FRC) has a coalition letter to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy encouraging them to prioritize hearings and votes on the Free Speech Fairness Act of 2016 ( H.R. 781 "Fairness Act"). If passed, this legislation would restore religious leaders' right to discuss politics from the pulpit without fear of endangering their tax-exempt status. If you would like to sign onto the letter to signal your support, please email Kelly Thomas your name, title and organizational affiliation by COB today, Wednesday, June 14th.

CNP Action, Inc. Board Member and CNP President Tony Perkins is the President of FRC.

The Weyrich Lunch is seeking signatures for their coalition letter to White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus. The letter expresses concern about the "lack of secondary and tertiary executive level appointments." It also urges Reince and the White House Office of Personnel to "accelerate its review of candidates for these subcabinet offices and, indeed, use the Schedule C senior staff appointment process as an interim measure for those who would be subject to Senate confirmation." If you desire to sign onto this letter, please email Madison at [email protected].

CNP Member Morton Blackwell is the Chairman of The Weyrich Lunch, and CNP Action, Inc. Board Member and CNP Gold Circle Member Tom Fitton is the President of Coalitions for America.

emailJudicial Watch Releases New Hillary Clinton Email Admitting Blackberry Use 'Against the Advice of the Security Hawks'

Tom Fitton

According to a Judicial Watch press release, a new email from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was obtained in response to a court order. This email shows her criminal intent. She writes in the email, "Against the advice of the security hawks, I still do carry my berry but am prohibited from using it in my office, where I spend most of my time when I'm not on a plane or in a 'no coverage' county."

CNP Action, Inc. Board Member and CNP Gold Circle Member Tom Fitton is the President of Judicial Watch. Above is a video of Tom discussing this new email. He feels that Hillary should be held accountable to the full extent of the law.

actHouse Victory: Financial CHOICE Act of 2017

Last Thursday, June 8, the House of Representatives passed the Financial CHOICE Act of 2017 (H.R. 10) with a vote of 233 yeas to 186 nays. This bill amends the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which includes more regulations than all other bills passed during Obama's presidency combined. With so much red tape, Dodd-Frank has made life harder for farmers, business owners and families across the country. The CHOICE Act will lead to significant economic improvements for the country. Learn more here.

Prior to its passage, the House Republican leaders held a press conference (pictured above).

Also, The Daily Signal published this article, 'Too Big to Fail' Has Been Damaging for America. This Bill Would Finally End It. The Daily Signal is The Heritage Foundation's digital-first, multimedia news platform. CNP Member Ed Feulner is the President of Heritage.
