TOTH logo
This Sunday we have the wonderful opportunity to worship outside. Our songs of praise will be accompanied by the whistling of birds and the rustling of the wind. We will be able to experience God in ways that we normally don't. We will be invited to look for God in surprising places. Come to Urban Park not just for the picnic and the desserts but for a fresh opportunity to worship God. Come with a soft heart and maybe you will hear the still small voice of God in creation.
     Peace,
     Chris

Trinity Sunday
Almighty and everlasting God,
you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

THE BISHOP SEARCH
Did you know?
Bishop search: Varieties of bishop
A bishop is a successor to one of the Twelve Apostles, who has been consecrated by other bishops. In Old English it was "biscop", which came to be pronounced "bishop" and was later spelled that way. In the Episcopal Church, there are five kinds of bishops: Presiding, Diocesan, Assistant, Coadjutor, and Suffragan. No bishop is "higher" in rank than another. The five kinds merely define their function. We, of course, will be electing a Diocesan bishop who will replace our current bishop, the Rt. Rev. Michael L. Vono, when he retires.

Week 5 - July 12 - Looking into the Future by Dan Winske
Week 6 - July 19 - Technology and Hope by Chick Keller

"Evolution and Hope"
"Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"
Morrie Pongratz will present the third installment of the Los Alamos Faith and Science Forum's summer series on Wednesday, June 14. The theme of the talks is "Hope: Science, Religion and the Future".  In this third presentation we encounter "evolution" and discuss the impact of Darwin's work on our concept of God and the cosmos.  The talk will highlight the insights of the scientist and theologian, Teilhard de Chardin, S.J., the author of "The Phenomenon of Man".
The talk will also introduce the work of Georgetown University's Distinguished Research Professor John Haught, author of "God After Darwin".  Professor Haught will give talks on June 22-23, 2017 at 7 PM in Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Avenue, Los Alamos, NM
The meetings will follow our usual format: light supper at 6 pm, talk at 6:30, followed by questions for the speaker and then table discussions. These talks will be in the Fellowship Hall of the Unitarian Church (1738 N Sage Loop, Los Alamos, NM).
Morrie Pongratz is a member of the board of the Los Alamos Faith and Science Forum.  He has worked in Los Alamos for over 40 years since earning his doctorate in physics at the University of Maryland.  In 2011 Pongratz was named a "Living Treasure" for Los Alamos.
The Los Alamos Faith and Science Forum (LAF&SF) is a non-denominational, incorporated 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization seeking to understand faith and science and how they fit together.  The website is www.lafsf.org .

Icon Painting Workshop in the Byzantine-Russian Tradition
The Prosopon School of Iconography
June 12-17 in Santa Fe
"This expanded course offering involves the study of the ancient floating technique of icon painting in the Byzantine Russian tradition, which reached its height in the XV-XVI centuries. Students will study the many-stepped method of layering egg tempera. Gesso application, gilding on bole, and final olipha application will also be taught. Each step has a symbolic and theological basis as a liturgical art. This basis will be taught parallel to the technique. Normally, each individual student completes an Icon by the end of the course. A background in art is NOT required to be successful in this course. Beginner and Advanced students welcome."

Classes are daily, 9am to 4pm, with one hour break for lunch. Location: Saint Anne School, Alicia Street, Santa Fe. The instructor is Father Mefodii, a Priest-monk from the Skete of Saint Maximos the Confessor in Palmyra, Virginia. Tuition is discounted until May 31; final payment is due June 12.
For more information, call 660-9113 or email: [email protected].
Somos Amigos Looks for Volunteers...
This Saturday, the 17th, Somos Amigos is having a workday for a woman and her three children who live just north of Espanola.  We will be doing finish-up work:  carpentry around some windows, some drywall texturing, and some painting.  There will be a little something for everyone, even if you have very few construction skills.
Please consider coming!  Let me know if you can make it and I will send you further information.
We will NOT be having a workday on the following Saturday, the 24th, as it is a Feast Day at the Pueblo on which we are working.  Work will resume again on Saturday, the 1st of July.
Hope you are doing well and enjoying the summer.
Looking forward to seeing you on the job site!
