Krystal Patton grew up in South Hill, Virginia and graduated from Park View High School. She earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Business Administration from Southside Virginia Community College.

Krystal transferred to Old Dominion University through its distance learning program offered at SVCC.  She completed her bachelor's degree in Business Administration, double majoring in Marketing and Management.  While she was a student and after, Krystal was employed at SVCC.  After twelve years with the College, she began a new career path with the judicial system as Deputy Clerk for Mecklenburg County Circuit Court.

Krystal reflects, "SVCC faculty and staff were very helpful during my time at the college. They were very eager to lend a helping hand and took a genuine interest in my success. The faculty at SVCC are there because they love the impact they are making in each student's life and mine was one of them."
