Celebration of Community Save the Date and Looking for "Good People"
The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation will host its fifth annual Celebration of Community event on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. at NewBo City Market. This year's theme is "Good Work & Good People," and we want to hear from you. We plan to feature some good people doing good work at nonprofit organizations throughout our communities. These individuals will be featured on a display and in a video at the event. Do you have an outstanding volunteer, employee, or donor that is doing good work at your organization? We want to hear about their story! We'll be accepting information about these "Good People" through August 1. One entry per nonprofit organization, please. Free Disaster Preparedness Workshop for Linn County Nonprofits
The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Resilient America Roundtable invites Linn County nonprofit organizations to participate in a free disaster preparedness workshop on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Community Foundation, in partnership with the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation and United Way of East Central Iowa. The workshop will be led by SF Card (San Francisco Community Agencies Responding to Disaster), which specializes in emergency preparedness programs and services for the nonprofit and faith-based community. Free Digital Marketing Help for Nonprofits
Do you know a Linn County nonprofit that needs a new website? Tell them to apply for Geonetric's Operation Overnight! In this annual event, scheduled for October 19 and 20, 2017, Geonetric employees will take a time out from their regular work, and instead spend 24 hours strategizing, coding, writing, and designing websites and other digital materials that help local nonprofits fulfill their missions in our community. Corridor Business Journal Giving Guide
The Corridor Business Journal is publishing the second annual Giving Guide in September 2017. The purpose of this publication is to provide an opportunity for you-the nonprofit sector-to share who you are, what you do, and how the community can help. The Community Foundation is sponsoring this Guide to help offset the cost for nonprofits to participate and to help spread the word about the good work that you are doing. More information about the Giving Guide, including cost and submission details, can be found here. The deadline for space reservations has been extended to July 7, 2017. Nominations Open for 2017 Iowa Nonprofit Awards
The purpose of the Iowa Nonprofit Awards is to recognize the exceptional practices, achievements, and impact of nonprofit organizations, professionals, philanthropic organizations, national service and volunteer programs, and local collaborations for their efforts to address community challenges. All are encouraged to nominate professionals and volunteers who serve Iowa. Award winners will be recognized at the Iowa Nonprofit Summit on October 24-25, 2107, in Altoona, Iowa. AFP Eastern Iowa Seeks 2017 National Philanthropy Day Nominations
AFP Eastern Iowa is accepting nominations of individuals, foundations, and corporations who best represent the spirit of philanthropy in our community. This year's recipients will be recognized November 14 at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon in Coralville. Find more information here. Nominations are due July 31, 2017.
