BE A CHAMPION FOR INFORMATION
SPEAK OUT FOR THE PROFESSION
As Congress considers Fiscal Year 2018 funding levels for the Government Publishing Office and the Library of Congress, your representatives need to hear from you. When you arrive in Austin, check your registration bags for postcards to send to Capitol Hill in support of access to official, trustworthy legal information. Simply fill out the postcards and add your own stamps, or drop them at the Member Services Pavilion in the Exhibit Hall and we'll send them for you.
While you're at Member Services, don't forget to pick up an advocacy pin to show that you're proud to support access to legal information. You can also
send an email to your members of Congress right now through our Action Center. Show your support on social media by using #ChampionInformation, #ChampionJustice, and #ChampionKnowledge.

ADVOCACY LEADERSHIP
SKILLS FOR INFLUENCE AND ACTION
Tuesday, July 18
Austin Convention Center - Room 6AB
2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Recent threats to access to government information, open government, and privacy have highlighted the importance of law librarian advocacy like never before. AALL's advocacy leadership session will familiarize you with the issues at the top of our public policy agenda and assist you in developing the skills you need to influence policymakers at the federal and state levels. Learn how to effectively advocate for greater access to and preservation of official, authentic legal information, balanced copyright, net neutrality, and the privacy of library users.
Experienced AALL advocates will answer your advocacy questions, and you'll have the opportunity to write to your members of Congress to champion access to legal information and access to justice.

TRAVEL OFFSET PROJECT
HELPING FAMILIES BREATHE EASIER
Reduce the environmental impact of your travel to Austin by supporting the Social Responsibilities Special Interest Section (SR-SIS) travel offset project. By making a tax-deductible donation to the Cool Effects Cook Stove Program, you'll be offsetting carbon dioxide pollution and helping to provide efficient, clean cook stoves to families in Uganda. By replacing unhealthy and heavily polluting cooking methods, these stoves lower dangerous greenhouse gas emissions and significantly improve the respiratory health of these families. A $6 donation offsets a ton of carbon dioxide (CO2)--the emissions for an average trip to/from Austin, Texas. Find more information on the donation page or contact David Selden, chair of the SR-SIS Task Force on Environmental Sustainability.
