Silicon Valley Bay Area professional  chapter tours baggage handling operations at San Francisco International Airport

On April 17, twelve members of the IISE Silicon Valley Bay Area professional chapter toured baggage handling in Terminal 3 at San Francisco International Airport . Members saw all the handling conveyors and equipment that your bags see after it leaves your sight at the ticketing counter. They also saw the scanning, screening and inspection tools.  After that, members went to the baggage handling operations center that monitors the performance of the system and learned all about what happens from the time your bag is dropped until it gets picked up by the airline when they place it on the plane.

Southeast Regional Conference was a roaring success!
                             Hosted by University of Florida

The University of Florida hosted the 2017 Southeast Region Conference on March 3-5. The theme of this conference was "Expand Your Horizons" which focused on the unique ways your ISE skill set can make an impact on the world. Plant tours, keynote
speakers, networking opportunities, workshops, and competitions explored the different roles IE's play in entrepreneurship, healthcare, entertainment and more!

Ever wish you could see how fire trucks are made? Well,
Southeast Regional conference attendees did just that
with the E-One plant tour. They saw an industry leader in  engineering, manufacturing, and delivery of emergency
vehicles worldwide. A few were lucky enough to get to shoot the water cannon!

Attendees also toured the brand new FedEx Distribution
Center in Ocala, Florida  This tour had two parts: Q&A luncheon and presentation on how ISE fits in with FedEx. It included a tour of the facility. Attendees learned more about FedEx, and all of their questions were answered.

Below: Congratulations to Uyen Phan and Sara Wortman, Co-Presidents of IISE SERC 2017, for putting on a terrific IISE event!

Is that a fact?  No piece of dry, square paper can be folded in half more than 7 times.
