Proposals for small road improvements due July 15
The public is invited to propose candidates for small-scale road improvements through Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation.
To be eligible, proposed improvements must address safety or connectivity issues on a County road.
To submit a proposal, review the map of identified small road improvement candidates to see if a candidate has already been identified at a specific location. To propose a new candidate, submit an online form, call the Operations and Maintenance Division at 503-846-ROAD (846-7623) or email [email protected].
Please note: Traffic signals, signs, crosswalks and other pavement markings are handled by the LUT Engineering Section and do not qualify for URMD funding.
Proposals for eligible candidates received by July 15 will be considered later this year by the Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee for the URMD Safety Improvement program. Projects selected by the committee will be included in the fiscal year 2018-19 budget request. It is expected that URMDAC will allocate about $2 million for safety improvement projects in FY 2018-19.
Previously, URMD safety improvement projects included sidewalks, pedestrian pathways, a pedestrian/bike path and a retaining wall/guardrail.
Proposals received after July 15 are added to the candidate list for consideration in next years' project selection process. Candidates not selected for funding remain on the list for future consideration.
