Staying Ahead: Disruption & Ethics Review, Annual IRB Conference July 13th

Early Bird Pricing Extended

It is now just over 2 weeks to NWABR's annual IRB conference. The conference will be hosted at the SeaTac Marriot Hotel on July 13, 2017 from 8.00am to 5.00pm.

The conference is also being broadcast as a webinar for those who cannot attend on the day. NWABR has contracted with a webcasting firm to ensure a high quality webcasting stream and support for those who attend the conference via this option.

Security and Crisis Communication Conference
Save the date! 

Our 4th Annual Security and Crisis Communications Conference will take place Thursday September 28, 2017 from 9:00am-4:30pm at Century Square in downtown Seattle.

One key theme of this conference will be Active Shooter preparation.  Conference planners are working with staff from the University of Washington Police Department and Seattle Pacific University Security to draw upon their significant experience and their resources to enable attendees to attendees to plan for these unthinkable events


New! Clinical Research Professional Conference
October 2, 2017 

This coming fall, NWABR will offer a Clinical Research Professional Conference in partnership with the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Association for Clinical Research Professionals (PNWACRP). We are proud to offer this new conference on Monday October 2, 2017 at Volney Auditorium at Virginia Mason Medical Center.

The newest of NWABR's conference lineup will address:
  • Communication for successful trials (site qualifications, start-up, ongoing activity and closeout)
  • Legal & Regulatory updates, e.g., single IRB and new rule, ICH E6 (R2)
  • Sponsor or FDA audits
  • Building and retaining quality programs, e.g., handoff's, amendments
  • E-consent and reconsent

Community Conversation Seeks Topic Ideas for 2017-2018

Thanks to all our facilitators this past season!
Thank you to our Spokane series sponsor, Whitworth University. 

We are looking for topic suggestions for the 2017-2017 Community Conversation season.  Currently we are considering the following broad topics with ethical implications: safe use sites for opioid consumption, municipal water fluoridation, best practices in retiring research animals, challenges in brain-computer interface technology (done in Portland already), fast tracking new medications and cancer immunotherapy. PLEASE WEIGH IN ON THESE TOPICS or suggest additional ones by emailing Jen Wroblewski, our program manager.

Community Conversation is taking a summer hiatus and will return this fall in all three of our current cities: Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; and Spokane, WA.
