When the doors open at 11:30am, over 200 kids flood in to get their daily summer meal. It's a busy time - children can play games, join a reading circle, or enjoy many other enrichment activities while awaiting their turn to eat. This California public library may not be where you would expect to find this scene, but it's essential for keeping kids free from hunger during the summer time.

Healthy summer meals support student health and their ability to learn throughout the summer and when school is back in session. Increased participation in the summer meal programs could also bring tens of millions of dollars in additional federal funding to California.
