Tauber solutions:
Forecasting for rapid growth

The Challenge:  Support an ambitious growth plan for an Indonesian conglomerate by evaluating forecasting and inventory management, identifying critical areas of improvement, designing solutions, and implementing them.

The Solution: The 2016 Tauber Gunung Sewu Team designed a multi-collaborative forecasting process to capture current business realities, then developed relevant simulation models. The team also proposed an inventory policy which could potentially reduce inventory investment by 77.55% and make the planning process more responsive to actual demand. Additionally, the team used linear programming to develop simulations to predict harvest and fruit size distribution, facilitating planning for both annual budgeting and monthly harvest planning.
Knowledge when you need it

This summer, all Tauber project teams have 24/7 access to the Tauber Institute Data Science Series, which provides on-demand instructional videos by Michigan professors tailored to the data analysis challenges students face in the field. Plans are in the works to make the Data Science Series more widely available through the Tauber website.
