"Drum Roll Please"
The Unveiling!

When God used me to start a mentoring ministry, a woman newly rededicated to the Lord with no women's ministry experience, I was clueless that He would still be bringing women together in Titus 2 mentoring relationships through Woman to Woman Mentoring twenty years later! I know many of you have led or served in these mentoring ministries in your church or been blessed by an M&M mentoring relationship. Many of you sent your stories when I put out a call for them last year when the Lord again led me to write a book, Mentoring for All Seasons: Sharing Life Experiences and God's Faithfulness, to encourage women from tweens to twilight to mentor and be mentored.

I'm so excited to share with you the cover and to let you know it's now available for pre-orders on Amazon, so you can be among the first to receive your book when it releases September 12!

I knew this had to be a book written to both mentors and mentees because we're always going into one new season of life as we come out of another one, and God wants us to share with another woman what we learned from the previous season, but seek a mentor in our new season. That's why the subtitle is Sharing Life Experiences and God's Faithfulness.

Many times when you're mentoring, your mentee has issues you don't know how to respond to so this book has helpful tips for both the mentor and mentee, but most importantly Scriptures on the topic to see God's perspective. I tackle some of the tough issues women are facing in our culture today because that's real life.

Women have questions about how to be a mentor or find a mentor. I try to answer those too.

My favorite part is mentors and mentees (M&M's) who share with the reader the blessings of their personal mentoring stories in each season. There are even those who had a tough mentoring relationship! To those who shared your story, my sincere gratitude and appreciation.

I could share so much more. I guess you can tell I'm excited! I really couldn't write this kind of a book early in the ministry because I needed to be seasoned myself and have a chance to experience and better understand what the issues are that sometimes stop us from honoring God's call to women in Titus 2:3-5.

We are putting together a Launch & Prayer team to help share Mentoring for All Seasons with women and churches from coast to coast. If you would like to know more about participating in that team, or have a blog I could guest on, please contact me with your email address.

I'll close with two endorser's comments, which convey so much of my heart that went into this book.

Janet's Thompson's book, Mentoring for All Seasons is informative and thorough, making it a great "how to" book for those who want a spiritual mentor, those who want to mentor others, and those who direct and coordinate women's ministries. They can find answers to their questions about how to connect and nurture in this book. I appreciate Janet's gathering and sharing numerous real life stories that illustrate and clarify her message and inspire women to take action during all seasons of their life.

In a world where mentoring has taken a back seat to social media and remote relationships, Janet Thompson's new book, Mentoring for All Seasons, reclaims the power of personal relationships and God's call on our lives to mentor and be mentored. In Mentoring for All Seasons, Janet shares the why, what, where, when, and how of mentoring in such a practical and powerful way that readers will be equipped and emboldened to once again embrace Titus 2 personally, as well as corporately. I highly recommend it as a must read for all women and women's ministry leaders alike!

Woman To Woman
Mentoring Ministry Testimony

Hi Janet,
First, I just wanted to let you know what an amazing blessing your Woman To Woman Mentoring Ministry and books have been for me. I started in 2013 as a mentee and this year God has called me to be the new Leader of the Mentoring Ministry at our church.

I can not thank you enough for all the resources that you have provided. My life, my husband's relationship with God, teaching our three kids to know the Lord, and now getting to share that love with other women.

God is so good!

Blessings,

Guiding Them in the Way They Should Go

How many grandmas are like me and have learned so much more in our senior years than we knew as young parents!? Do I hear some "Amens"?

As the grandkids get older, I'm trying to help them arrive at their own answers so they can start making wise decisions. I'm not sure I did that well as a parent. If you read my blog, "Why I Have Hope for Katy Perry," Katy said that growing up she had so many questions but was told this is what we do, but not the whys. That may be only her perception, but it did lead her to go exploring out into the "world" for her answers.

Granddaughter Katelyn is coming later this summer to go to a kid's theater camp. Her younger sister doesn't want to come this year, so I said Katelyn could bring the friend who does Bible study with us. We know her, she knows us, and her parents know us.

On Father's Day, Katelyn sheepishly asked if she could ask a third friend, who I don't know. Plus this friend doesn't get along well with the other friend. You know what that means. Drama!

Instead of saying an immediate no, I did a quick mind prayer and asked, "Well from your experience what usually happens when there are three of you?" She smiled, "Someone gets left out like what happened to me at VBS." We discussed that she really didn't want to spend the week like that, and she arrived at the conclusion that one friend was best. She took ownership of the answer.

Oh, I wish I could remember to do that more often. But it's also a good way to handle mentoring situations, which really I'm doing with Katelyn better than I did with her mommy.

Messy Journey
How Grace and Truth
Offer the Prodigal a Way Home

My good friend and fellow author, with a heart for prodigals because she has one, shares about her new book.

What inspired you to write Messy Journey: How Grace and Truth Offer the Prodigal a Way Home?

Life doesn't always go the way we expect. As parents, we can do everything "right" and still have a child who veers off the expected path. With my daughter's permission and input, I share our journey- the struggles a prodigal child brings and how to live life in the middle of the mess.

How would you describe this book to someone in a 30 second blurb?

Messy Journey: How Grace and Truth Offer the Prodigal a Way Home
is for parents walking the difficult road with a wayward child. This book is filled with stories from dozens of Christian parents and some prodigals.

It includes my personal journey with my same-sex attracted daughter. The book is vulnerable and honest. No matter why a parent has a prodigal (or if you love someone who does) this book will bring comfort, help, and encouragement. Practical grace- and truth-filled ways of navigating a relationship with a detoured child who is rejecting faith, dabbling in sin, or wholeheartedly embracing sinful behavior are given. There is hope.

Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?

Messy Journey is for the wounded and weary parent and for those who love them. It is also a resource for counselors, pastors, and support group leaders. This book offers biblical truth, helpful strategies, prayers, and hope for the hurting and often lonely parent.

What do you hope readers will gain from the book?

My prayer is that the moms and dads reading this book feel encouraged and less alone. My hope is that by reading the stories of others and implementing the suggestions presented they feel empowered to get through the day and to never give up.
