Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs to Study Ontario Bill 148: The Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017
From July 10 to 21, the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs will be holding a series of Public Hearings across the Province of Ontario on Bill 148: The Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 This is an opportunity for you to share with the Committee the impact that raising the minimum wage and other proposed labour and employment standard reforms will have on your business. 

The presentation would be approximately five minutes in length, followed by questions from the Committee members. The presentation can also be made to the Committee by phone. CFA has requested an opportunity to make a presentation, and will be submitting a written response as well.

CFA members are encouraged to contact the Clerk of the Committee Eric Rennie at [email protected] to request an opportunity to appear at one of the following hearings:
 
Week 1 (Presenter Registration Deadline is Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. ET)
  • Monday, July 10: Thunder Bay
  • Tuesday, July 11: North Bay
  • Wednesday, July 12: Ottawa
  • Thursday, July 13: Kingston
  • Friday, July 14: Windsor-Essex
Week 2 (Presenter Registration Deadline is Monday, July 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. ET)
  • Monday, July 17: London
  • Tuesday, July 18: Kitchener-Waterloo
  • Wednesday, July 19: Niagara
  • Thursday, July 20: Hamilton
  • Friday, July 21: Toronto
If you are unable to present to the committee during one of the Public Hearings, you can also participate by submitting your comment in writing to Eric Rennie, Clerk of the Committee, before 5:30 p.m. ET on July 21st.
